Hi, I would like to simulate the discharge curve of an initially charged photoflash capacitor into a RL load as shown below (with component parasitics):
circuit schematic.jpg

A few things to note:
1. photoflash capacitor (C1) is initially charged to 360V
2. a voltage controlled switch represents a microcontroller triggered thyristor that turns on exactly 1ms late

When this circuit is simulated, the following graph is obtained:
circuit simulation result.jpg

The simulation shows a discharge current less than 1nA when around 6kA of current is anticipated. How is this possible?

I have attached a copy of the schematic below.

Thanks!

hi 20,
What is the voltage source charging the capacitor.?
E

Update:
The IC for V(n003) corrected.

Any DC source, such as a battery. I have tried changing the node designation but nothing worked. Would you have any idea of the root cause of this simulation error?

hi ericgibbs, the latest simulation appears to be the result that I was looking for - a shift in the closing time of the equivalent switch; could you upload a copy of that schematic so I may learn what went wrong with mine?
