IMO, some people cannot be reformed. You either kill them or put them away from the rest of society. I dislike the death penalty because it is so permanent. You can always undo a innocent persons conviction, not so much after the death penalty.

Well I see this as sort of simple. First I strongly support the death penalty. However there is a flaw with my thinking so I'll break it down a little. There are times when a conviction can result of an over zealous prosecution and there are times when a conviction is a simple matter of smoking gun over a corpse. A case in point, locally, was Anthony Sowell a Cleveland serial rapist and murderer. While he died in prison of natural causes he spent 10 years waiting execution and easily would have spent another 10 plus years with his appeals. In this case there was no question of guilt, I followed the trial. His appeals were no more than a feeding trough for attorneys and judges on the state dole. My opinion? He should have been executed 10 min after being found guilty. He had a yard and house full of rotting corpses. That said there are times when a guilty verdict should be questioned but not every case. Currently here in Ohio the methods of execution is in question? I really don't care how they do it, just make them dead. Hanging, Firing Squad, Gas Chamber or Electric Chair all work fine for me.

The Innocence Project has managed to get a few retried but I have yet to see how many they win verse lose. I only occasionally hear about the ones they win.

Growing up in the 50s I never could have dreamed of where we would be today. Prison was something to be feared and if you did the crime you did your time. Today incarceration is a joke. The taking of lives is a relatively common practice. Law Enforcement is overwhelmed as people scream to defund the police. The only thing between a civilized society and total mayhem is the police.

Finally while I see reform as an option for some but not for all as we seem to have no shortage of repeat offenders, many back to crime days after release. Criminals who never should have been released on the streets. Prison should be a place nobody ever wants to return to. I figure criminals should have no rights and certainly not be sharing rights with good citizens who abide by the laws.

Now I will end my rant and go load some ammunition since short of divine intervention law enforcement can't be everywhere. Oh in closing I have concluded that God apparently hangs out in prisons since every criminal up for parole seems to claim they found God.

Another good example of beyond the shadow of any doubt. Yet, look at how long it took to finally execute them. Reading stuff like this just makes me sick, like I mentioned, I really don't care how they are executed, just make them dead. Imagine the horror that young girl suffered before she was raped and murdered? I simply have no sympathy for the condemned. Does anyone actually believe people like this can be reformed?

Call me naïve, but I'm one of them. And yet, I also believe that no matter how reformed you are (or claim to be) some crimes deserve a sentence behind bars for life. No parole, and no special considerations.

I don't though understand your choosing another of his books, instead of the one I suggested, to be critical of. Especially the Goat book, since it should have been right up your alley, being that it was written about the way spy agencies chose to spend time and money. After all you were a spy and many other things in the military.

So your dismissal of the Goat book was because it made fun of what the government did, even though he gives quoting of the people he interviewed? Did you miss in the wording from your link that even Goat was non-fiction? He is first and foremost an investigative reporter, that chose to write books instead of working in the news media.

Should they confirm it is her next comes a cause of death and finding him. Then it's a matter of if he did kill her and where? Many states do not have a death penalty for capital murder. Before it is all done and a jury delivers a verdict this will be a convoluted mess. Anyway it will remain for a jury to decide.

Besides, the worst possible way to judge a situation such as this is through the media ... which is always biased and deliberately delivers information droplet by droplet, so as to keep the public interest aflame ... Of course, I'm also interested in the case ... a life so young and vibrant lost is always a horrible tragedy.

All of this is surely going to happen and will alway be, it’s a given. However, I’m using this as just and only just, example. Courts legality no conviction he has his rights I agree, thats not the question, once again I say everyone “Lets assume” if he did, and only if he held her hostage, she is alive then want back committed the act, and abandon the Vehicle which was last in his possession, this is not enough to convict, I agree, thats not the dang question, so stay on the question I alluded to earlier.

How would you on the jury want this act to be judged, or as a citizen of society how do you view the death penalty etc the Thread starter?
