Probably at least 30 years ago.

My travels to Singapore were around early to mid 1980s. I liked the place as it was very clean and again, happy to take a 2 AM walk in the park. Never saw any slum areas but never looked either.

Oh yes, never ever spit on a sidewalk. They take their laws serious. Nice clip and glad you enjoyed.

Anyway, not the place you want to do something in violation of the laws as public severe punishment is alive and well. In many of the countries I have visited and lived in those which had strict laws and meted out swift justice seemed more enjoyable and had much lower crime rates.
