Found out what the problem with ViewMate was ebeowulf. It has a "PUP" file imbedded in it "Potentially Unwanted Program". I just noticed that my homepage would open to Google on the first tab but any tab after that is an MSN tab. Took me about a week last time to get rid of this nuisance. can't remember what I had to do cause it's be so long since I downloaded a program that hid this kinda malware in it.

That's really bizarre!

It didn't do that on either of the computers I've installed it on. No odd browser behavior, and no malware detected (AVG on one computer, Norton on the other.) Sorry to hear it's giving you trouble. Did you download directly from Pentalogix, or from a third-party site?

Straight from the site! I know about third party apps and avoid them like the plague. I'm running Norton and it didn't like it at all.
Now I've noticed that when the new tab opens and it goes to MSN there is no address in the address bar (it"s Blank) No MSN, No anything.
Usually the address bar tells you what site you are on.

Finally got my PCB board in (middle)
Now I can start putting it together
OK! How many of you had bets on the side with AG this would never happen

Edit: They also sent me a bag of "buttered" microwavable popcorn free of charge. Pic not added!

Ok I found an old set of Mindblower Speakers in a box cleaning out a room. I'm pretty sure they no loner work. But it got me thinking could I resurrect these, create my own company and start manufacturing them. The company was called Tenna they were around in the late 70's and early 80's and as far as I know they no longer exist. Spent most of the day yesterday drawing it out on the computer, circuit board, components and looking up what they were called. I know nothing about electronics as I was machinist all my life with a little study in mechanical design and using CAD. They are mostly rusted and the parts have no clear markings on them! If they (Tenna) are no longer in operation can I re-do them and sell them without like copy right infringement, name infringement...etc? I would be making upgrades to the old design as they were notorious for failing after about a year with the PCB board being the worse about burning out the embedded wiring between components. But I have a few question I don't know how to get the answers too.

Without the Markings (numbers and ID's) how do you tell what they were?
And if I need to put a meter on them is there a chart that can tell me input, output voltage, ohms or whatever it's call to identify what they are.
I not trying to get you guys to do my work for me just point me in the right direction.
The unit consists of only a few parts;
1. (1) PCB board
2. (1) Transformer
3. (2) Diodes
4. (2) Capacitors, One being a ZSF the other same kind only larger
5. (2) Transistors
6. (1) Coil, I know it's function was to change it from a three wire output to a two wire output cos the first ones hooked up to special speaker with a double coil. Later models used this because the three wire speaker became hard to find or became too expensive and the coil was cheaper and you could now use any speaker on the market.
Any help or feed back would be appreciated!

I don't know what it's about yet shortbus. My first thought was I was hoping he had information for me on the transformers or whatever they are.
Maybe He wants more info on the original like I did. I thought this thread did a pretty good job of that.
If He comes back I'll let you know.
Or maybe it's an investor???? AG is gonna love that!

Got another quick question about limiting voltage coming in. So I assume the speaker output on a radio is just that voltage. If you were to hook a volt meter to a leg of the speaker output side of radio it would show voltage yes?
So can you place a resistor in between the radio and the amp to not allow more that a curtain voltage/amps coming to the amp.
Example: If your radio puts out 40 watts and you want to limit the current coming in to let's say 5 or 10 volts/amps this can be done right.

A series resistor will reduce the power delivered ti whatever load it is in series with, which may then limit the voltage across or the current through the load. But it is only a reduction, not a limiting action. So if the source can output 40 watts and you want a maximum of ten watts into the load, then the added series impedance must be three times the load impedance. That will result in a 25% /75% power split. So you first need to know what power input will bring the voltage or current at your input connections to whatever value you choose as the limit. Just a bit more math, but no magical formulas.

Thank you MisterBill. I was wanting to add a fail safe to my design in case someone thought about hooking an already amped radio to the amp "If that made sense".

Is this a speaker wire? From the radio to the Mindblower input? If so ,wouldn't you need a resistor in both leads? Since the output to a speaker is not DC but AC.

Given that some speaker hookups are not ground referenced I would suggest splitting the resistance between the two leads. Think of the warning on some of them "Do NOT ground any speaker leads". For additional explanations read about "bridging amplifier outputs", or just "Bridging amplifiers." The destruction from grounding an output like that is immediate and serious.

Just some? No speakers I've ever seen are ground referenced, especially not in a vehicle. Just from the weight stand point in today's cars they try to eliminate as many wires as they can, I know since I worked where they made car wire harnesses.

So what happens if I design the fail safe for just 40 watts and someone hooks a actual amplifier of 200 watts to it? Does this blow the resistor? I trying to figure out how to make whatever current/amps/watts come in only be a curtain amount. Can this be done with a step down converter?

Still today some radios that do not use a bridging type of amplifier circuit can have one side of the speaker line grounded. And using the two resistors for a non-grounded output protects the driving device, since I think that one side of the input on the TS device is grounded. But I may not be correct on that detail.

Could you post the schematic of what you've got so far? I don't remember the circuit details anymore, and I tried going back through several pages of posts and haven't found a schematic yet.

If I could see the schematic (and the part number of the amp module if that's not on the schematic) I'd give some thought to protection circuits.
