That's the location of C4? That should be for the zener diode not a 3 terminal 7805 regulator. As you can see there are only two connections on the board being used.

 

Eric, shouldn't the 250 load resistor be in series with with B1 as shown below.
Memedin, can you confirm there is a resistor behind Q1 not visible in the photo?

I notice that the supply says 5 volts also. Seems like that should higher in a range of say 8 to 24 volts.

I thought the same thing but that module I linked in post #25 does use a XR101 so it can be done as you described
