Good afternoon gentlemen.
In between rain and the honey do list I have been able to install 90% of my setworks system and test operation.
I still have to wire in the magnetic limit switches and the battery disconnect switch.
The test went well with engine running and not running.
The magnetic switches I have chosen are rated at .5 amp. Dose that rating seems adequate ? They will be wired in line of the A1 and A2 wires that supply the ground side of the windings of the motor direction control relays. They will be wired in the (NC) position and open the circuit when the limit is reached stoping motor command in that direction. The other switch should be closed allowing motor command in the opposite direction to get back into operating parameters.
The next thing is to mount a disconnect switch to kill power to the system when not being used because the PWM is not truly off as long as the power is connected.
I have chosen a switch that should be able to carry the system amperage demand. Do you see any advantage to putting the switch on the ground or the positive side of the circuit.
Again thank you all for your valuable knowledge and willingness to help a total stranger.
Bob G.

Having the switch on the not-grounded side would make the diagnostic checking a bit simpler if there was a problem. It would not affect operation, just make diagnotics a bit simpler if there was a fault.

That's fine, the current there is only a few mA

Always on BAT+ side if BAT- is common ground.
Good afternoon Irving.
In your travels have you ever found a source of the friction discs in the electromagnetic brakes ? My brake has no markings on it to identify the manufacturer .
In the pics I have a view of the id( hex drive), the od. of the disc , and approximate thickness. In case you have run across them.
Just thinking ahead. Like I said I do have an other brake assembly on the other motor however I would like to have a source. Can't be to many people making the discs .
Thank you Bob G

Forgot to tell you that I spent some time in London many many years ago. One time we tied up alongside the HMS Belfast (I think it was) right down town. Spent a week there that time Had a good time with the locals. There is no history in the US like you have there. Very humbling. I imagine a lot has changed since then.

Sorry, no. I've never had a brake wear out. Usually the motor & brake is changed as a whole unit; I've never seen the brake offered separately in spares listings.

HMS Belfast is still there. I went on-board as a kid some 55 years back! London changes, but is still timeless; it's one of the most congested yet greenest cities on Earth. I've lived here all my life and I still find new things all the time. Been to the US many times for both work & leisure; NY, Boston, Chicago, Yosemite, SF, LA, Orlando, Las Vegas, Miami, Washington, Seattle, and a few others en route between 1980 and 2015.
