You resort to using these people as an example? https://www.hrw.org/news/2016/04/11/palestine-israeli-police-abusing-detained-children

I think it is difficult to have a consensus between people who have difficult priorities - one side aim to preserve life at a possible cost to ones own and the other side seems to care for ones own life only no matter what the cost to others. Reconsiliation does not seem possible, does it.

100% agreed! --- Nor is said criminal abuse of power a strictly racial or even urban 'thing' - Did you see Aleph's account of her recent experience? -- Clearly, BLM have chosen their enemy (i.e. malfeasant law enforcement) well -- I can but hope they will come to recognize their friends (which being all people seeking relief from said tyranny)

To those feeling my 'sentiments' in this matter err on the side of 'drama' - you can have no idea how much I wish you were correct! -- Unfortunately such is not the case!

FWIW As I see it, the solution is not 'nationalization/federalization' of law enforcement (that could only make matters much worse!) but, rather, radical re-structuring of recruitment/training at all levels!

Most sincerely

Deadly weapon.
Yep. Scissors are pretty f'n frightening to a 200 pound person with a gun who can see it coming 30 feet away and has a back-up cop right behind the 95 pound woman. I use scissors just yesterday. They went through that sewing thread like it didn't have a gun!

Edit: The sewing thread didn't have two guns, one of them controlled by a back-up person.
And yes, that sewing thread died as I held it in my hand and mourned for its suffering.:(

So what should they do with the criminal with a weapon coming at them?

here, and this is personal

http://globalnews.ca/news/1094850/f...by-police-want-justice-training-for-officers/

I have epilepsy. I do not have seizures anymore. I had both convusive and absense seizures when I did. Before I blank out, I could remember people asking me "what is wrong" or just looking at me oddly. Then remember nothing. One time I walked 3 blocks while unconsious. Somewho I did nor walk out onto the highway. This is some other parts of brain taking over, like being on drugs. How would an interaction with police end if there was one? You think I could listen to instructions? Once I woke up in an ambulance and was described as "unoperative" and "combative" by the paramedics as they tried to figure out what language I speak - there is usually about a 30 min period after a seizure where I can hnderstand words but could not speak myself...

So I present myself, and epileptic on manic depressive drugs as a threat to you.

p.s. I do not need comments about whether the guy on the article was good or bad if he work or was on drugs or if he was properly treating his condition. I am speaking from my own personal experience and the fact that I cannot rely on other people who are supposed to be professional to treat me the way I need to be treated. I never got that from medical profession either. So now I try my best to advocate for local improved services and for people in my situation to take charge of their own health. No-one will help you.

You can't expect people to be clairvoyant. I know people who have seizures and one of my kids is autistic so I've had these types of conversations with the local school police and administrators about him sometimes acting strange or dopey. There are bracelets and ID tags for medical conditions, I use them for him and normally have a location tracker but he never gets lost today

the gulf is only widening here... the bracelet will help, to id my condition, in a morgue. I appreciate the irony. Not sure that you do.

That might be the case and it might also prevent you from being there.

I'm being serious, if you have a serious medical condition that can be misidentified as threatening, ID yourself for the police and/or EMS.

I do like the idea of a medical warning bracelet. Make it nearly impossible to get off so you can't remove it during an epileptic trance.

Tatoos are popular now for that. The problem is if you live in a big city, you will not be widely known as "that weird person".

I am in a small town now so no problems :p

I was thinking...put a ring around the latch with 14 Ga. copper wire and solder the ring closed. That way, a medico could cut it easily enough, but you couldn't figure that out when you're in an altered state.
