No. When the Starter Relay is energized by the Ignition Switch, it energizes the solenoid switch in the Starter Motor.
The Ignition Switch is spring deactivated when you take your hand of the ignition key.

I know it to work that way, but it doesn't look drawn that way. Tracing the hot from the battery goes right to one of the brushes!
