You were wise, some aren't getting the message!
Max.

"Six Americans have been charged with bringing handguns across the New Brunswick border so far this summer,
as a Canadian prosecutor says it's proving difficult to let otherwise law-abiding people know they can't bring firearms on vacation.
"The offences continue to occur with alarming frequency during the summer months," federal prosecutor Peter Thorn said from Hampton, N.B.
Five men — three from Florida, two from New England — pleaded guilty and were fined between $1,500 and $2,000, he said."
Yeah my handgun is worth considerably less than $2,000; I'd rather it be mowed over or picked up by a pedestrian than the fine, and plus the odds of that are less than a random search. Also I would not like to be banished from Canada (not sure they do that, but they can).

Just watch a few TV episodes of Border Security to see the stuff some try and pull off.

If you go often enough it would be interesting for those reading to stash an item near the sign for you to find, now and then. If you find something with your name on it, report from whom and what in this Thread. :eek:he he

Like AAC Geocaching. I don't go there often. 2nd time in 5 years. Might not go back for years more.

I also brought a .45 (Taurus) on vacation. I planned to pawn it in Buffalo before driving into Ontario but the timing didn't work out (middle of the night) so I wrapped it in paper towels and plastic bags and stashed it on the side of 219 a few miles south of Buffalo by a deer crossing sign. Came back 3 days later and it was right where I left it.

I can't believe anyone liked this post. And I certainly hope stantor was kidding. I am , sorry but this was very irresponsible behavior. Granted 219 is a limited access highway and the chances of some kid seeing you stash the gun and then being able to get to it are pretty limited. But there is still a chance it could have gotten into the wrong hands. You are just lucky a state trooper did not stop by as they often do when someone is on the side of the road. I would like to see you explain your way out of that one. You should have made the timing work or canceled your plans to enter Canada. I can't believe you admitted such a thing on a public forum.

This does bring up a question. Why is there no lockbox service at the border for those with a CCW. Seems someone could make a decent business out of this if you combined it with the typical souvenirs and money exchange.

The answer to that is in the War on Cops Thread. If you haven't figured out what laws which entrap honest citizens are for, you haven't been watching.

Now, let's get off this subject before it poisons the Thread and calls down the wrath of the Moderators.:(

So do I. In fact, aesthetics aside, the towers give the picture a sense of size and scale.
Hi again,

Yes i agree, and also adds some 'life' to the picture. Without the towers it looks like a vast area with nothing alive anywhere. I do like mountain scenery but i guess mostly in the day light, except of course for night scenes like that one with the towers.
I could guess that they are a set of TV and radio towers, and of course cell phone towers if the photo is recent enough.

Hello again,

I almost forgot to post this pic of Donald Trump all ready for a night out on the town.
Note the crown and the hand gesture :)

Note this is for a joke not a political statement of any kind. He is doing some interesting things but we all like to joke about the president regardless who he/she might be at the time.

Received a very nice gift today......Had lunch with a couple of former techs who worked for me. One of them is really good with water colors. When someone would leave or for some other special event, she would sometimes make a little water color painting for them. Sometimes she would even make them from a picture I had taken and sent her.

I always envied them, but could never say, "hey make me one of those", because I was her supervisor. So, she has moved on and I told her how much I always wanted one of her water colors....and today, I got one!

Here is the original pic that I took.

I didn't know whether to post this pic here or in the pets thread.

My wife loves photography, but she doesn't have any fancy equipment and likes to use only her smartphone.
Gadgets and techniques aside, I have to hand it to her that she has a master's eye when it comes to picking the exact moment.

In this pic, our cat's lurking under a glass table, looking as though he were a miniature panther stalking its prey.

Was the prey a rat? Any picture? :p

Poor-man's eclipse pic :) This is the reverse binoculars onto a piece of cardboard technique. When I took this, a neighbor had some glasses that NASA gave away, (I think her Mom works with NASA). Man, those things worked very well! Wanted to get this in the thread before someone who knows what they are doing shows up with a really good pic.
