Hi,

Iv purchaced a gameboy that has power to the led but no picture or sound.

Iv tested the output from the battery and its outputting 6.4v.

Psu points are

Vcc 6.26v

Gnd 0

Minus -276mv

Plus -151mv

Now i no these outputs are wrong but im getting 6.24v on the board up by the switch when its turned on.

Strangly when i was checking the voltages i shorted the Vcc & ground together and the device started up, screen & volume was working and i was able to use the device, but when i turn it off it wont turn back on, would this suggest a short on the psu or on the board?

Theirs no noticble damage anywhere

It suggests to me that there is a poor connection someplace, possibly a connector not fully seated.

That was my intitial thought but i cant dor the life of me find anything haha ill give it another scan around now

Just had another good scan around everything seems seated good an propper

 

A trick that sometimes solves a problem is to disconnect and then reconnect each connector, one at a time so that nothing becomes confused. The reason that can work is because there could be a particle stuck in the connector, blocking the connection. So that would be one more trick to try.

 

Have you checked the power button?, is it ok?, and do it’s job?

Iv done a few tests on it mate yeah, it activates the power led on/off an it opens and closes a power rail for me so im peesuming that would be ok
