People looking away from the camera?!

One of my bigger peaves is the whole "selfie" thing, and it goes further than that. I wish more people could appreciate natural beauty without the need to plaster their face on top of it.
Unless it's a beautiful face that's being plastered on top, of course...

On a visit to Mexico, I did find the Xcaret ecological park interesting, mostly based on Mayan culture.
The evening finished off with a supposedly Mayan traditional game similar to hockey, except the "puck' was a flaming ball, and at the end of the game, it was the Winning Captain that lost his head!
Not much of an incentive to win the game!
Max.

I beg to differ... she has rather an expectant look... and possibly a little tired for the long trip, and grateful to her daddy because of that...
You have a beautiful daughter, btw, NSA... congrats

I don't know to me she has that. DAD gesh!!! look that any kid her age would have after the millionth photo from a loving, well meaning father..

Why do you think the daughter looks so unhappy? :p

We were at an isolated landing strip about 7 miles from town (Tonopah) in soon to be almost total darkness with rabbits running over the ground. I don't think it's an unhappy face, it's the face of trepidation we see in every horror movie.:p I wasn't afraid (packing a Colt .45) because you could hear a person or animal from a mile away because it was so quiet in the desert.

I also brought a .45 (Taurus) on vacation. I planned to pawn it in Buffalo before driving into Ontario but the timing didn't work out (middle of the night) so I wrapped it in paper towels and plastic bags and stashed it on the side of 219 a few miles south of Buffalo by a deer crossing sign. Came back 3 days later and it was right where I left it.

Hi,

Why, you scoundrel little spy you! (ha ha) :)

That's pretty close actually, that's the right intersection too, but if you look to the far right hand side of that pic you;'ll see the front of a gray car. That is where i was parked waiting for the light to change, not where the red car is in that pic. There are two lanes where that gray car is you can only see one lane in that pic, but that was the lane i was parked in. The other lane you cant see is for turning left but i was going to go straight through the intersection when the light turned green.

The pic i posted also had the street signs shown too right? That puts the photo in a real place on earth too rather than some random place where nobody knows where it is. I see pics on the web sometimes, very nice, with waterfalls and everything but they dont always say where it is located. I was probably heading back home after a visit to Shop Rite and that sign is in the pic you posted.

Hello again,

Here's one more interesting pic. This came about years ago while i was studying the Joint Picture Group's standard for the .jpg file format. I was experimenting with picture filtering while the .jpg file was being encoded so that it would not take a separate step to filter it which would in turn save a huge amount of time when processing multiple files on a regular basis.

This kind of illustrates how the .jpg encoding algorithm 'sees' the picture...in blocks of frequencies that can be clearly visible if certain frequencies are cut while it's being encoded. I call this one "Face in the Floor" because it looks like the girls face is in some floor design where the floor is made up of tiles which is how many floors are made. It can be considered a photographic effect as this can be done with any photo.

What i cant believe was i did this in 1998, almost 20 years ago now! Doesnt seem that long ago.

Hello again,

cmartinez:
One of your pics stood out for me so i am posting this view. Someone else mentioned that they wondered what it would look like without the towers. I think it is more interesting with the towers though.

You were wise, some aren't getting the message!
Max.

"Six Americans have been charged with bringing handguns across the New Brunswick border so far this summer,
as a Canadian prosecutor says it's proving difficult to let otherwise law-abiding people know they can't bring firearms on vacation.
"The offences continue to occur with alarming frequency during the summer months," federal prosecutor Peter Thorn said from Hampton, N.B.
Five men — three from Florida, two from New England — pleaded guilty and were fined between $1,500 and $2,000, he said."
