About maybe ten minutes after taking the picture, this pampero was followed by a violent storm, probably the strongest I ever saw at that pier.

Not an hurricane, I know, but good enough to end wet up to the sockets in a minute.

Today's theme: damaged creatures.

At my sister's house I spotted this gigantic ant. On closer inspection, it was a wasp without wings. My guess is that a dragonfly got a hold of it. Dragonflies are brutal.

Before succumbing to being trapped under my garage door for days, this gecko had lost his tail and grew 2 replacements.

And this is my finger after I pinched it in the tilting mechanism of a boat trolling motor.

It's too bad the shortest way, by boat, to the Maldives, from here, is through the Suez canal and outside Somalia... I don't like the somali pirates.

Just fly on Emirates Airlines - you'll be there in 21 hours and you can rent a boat when you arrive.
Flight is just 900 USD.

Now, where's the fun in that?

Actually, my boat has sailed from Norway to Australia. In Australia the owner got too sick to continue his journey, so he flew home. Then, he sold it to a guy, in my hometown. This guy flew down and tested the boat before called home, and convinced a few buddies to come down. The four of them sailed the boat from Australia, via the Suez channel, and back to Norway. This was in the middle of the 90's.

Better stay out of Minnesota.

Wait! Isn't that Minnesota's baseball team?
I've been to Camp Ripley, Minnesota. Wasn't too bad. Met a few amazing guys!

The great aviator, Charles Lindburgh was born just a few km from there. I grew up within 100 km of there.
Lots of people in that area with Norsk ancestors - (including me). Were you there for training (multi-national exchange?).

Do you know where from Norway they came from?

If you're ever in the area, you have to stop here. Regarded by some as the best pies in America.
