The transmission capacity battle is a mess. NImby ...

U.S. court rejects a request by tribes to block $10 billion energy transmission project in Arizona
Tohono O’odham Attorney General Howard Shanker argued during a hearing in March that claims by federal land managers that they could not find any evidence of the valley’s significance to area tribes was disingenuous at best. He referenced an academic book about the valley published by the University of Arizona Press and the declaration of a tribal member who once served as a cultural resource officer.

The transmission lines will forever transform “a place of beauty, prayer and solitude for generations of O’odham who want to connect with the spirits of their direct ancestors,” Shanker said. “So the irreparable harm is clear.”

Government representatives told the judge that the SunZia project is a key renewable energy initiative and that the tribes waited too long to bring their claims. They also argued that tribal representatives accompanied government officials in surveying the area in 2018 to identify and inventory any potential cultural resources.

I don't know about that, but you have to hand it to her that she's very, very honest
I have to say I like her overall, but I also realize that sometimes we get critical and look for things to criticize, and that we won't always agree with everything she says. As far as the quality of the presentation itself though, I think she does a good job much better than most.

So, is she single or married (ha ha) :)

On the bright side, the cost of batteries for Solar energy storage are still decreasing due to over capacity. The cost of hybrid solar systems (a renewable energy system that is grid-tied and includes battery storage like the DIY system I'm building for the house) while still high, is falling due to lower battery costs.
Remember: the high is always followed by a hangover.

Suprise, suprise, suprise Gomer (referring to the manufacturers and their projections not to any member here).

They all have one thing in common: They think they know what customers want, or else they just do not care, or they seem to have forgotten what good engineering entails in its entirety.
Case in point: Microwave ovens.
Case in point: EV's.
Case in point: Just about anything, although there are a few exceptions.

I bet that any member here could design just about anything better than they can, and have it sell also.

It's really amazing to see an actual good product but that seems to be happening less and less.

This has nothing to do with what customers want.

No one wants an EV at a price that would make manufacturing and selling them profitable.
Exactly. That's why I support the restrictions on Chinese EVs. If we must force the EV future, there is a choice to be made.
We can support socialist in China or socialism in the US.

Whatever.

It won't end the way you think.
EV sales are surging in China because of authoritarian rule, anything they can do, we can do better.

Not saying I'm for it, only what I see as the most likely US future moves for US EV automotive market protections from Chinese EV dumping.
