@nsaspook

Douchebag must be at the bottom of the list of the names you've been called, and I'm talking about only your time in the Navy. I'll bet that was damn near the first word you boot camp company commander called you and everyone else in your company.

The word has no value as a hurtful word.

No need to address points that are blatant nonsense. You admit to not knowing about the subject and I confirm it. If I'm a douche because of that then so be it.
I say that out of humbleness, not ignorance. I've shot guns before on many occasions, and never once have I observed that effect. I can fathom the possibility on object "boomeranging" around a pivot and in the process moving toward the shooter, but at the point of impact at least, one would expect it to move in the direction of the bullet's trajectory. And once again, I have talked to experts in the field about this and none have disagreed with me on that assessment thus far. If you can provide some evidence supporting your claim, please do so (video?).

As to the points of "nonsense" I've raised, why not try to address them anyway? Each and every one of them. That way, we might actually learn something here, right? Enlighten me, man.

Look bullets don't kill people, physics kills people. The physics of the JFK head shot is as clear as day.
The first thing is that people don't get blown back or forward when shot usually, they drop like a sack of potatoes. There might be a nerve spasm that causes a jump in any direction but it's not because of energy transfer from a 6.5mm bullet into the bulk of a body

For a shot in the head (or melon) with massive ejecta in one direction the physics of conservation of energy/momentum applies. All the somewhat empty head moving back "proves", is that the jet shot forward as the bullet moved forward.

And the answer turned out (to be simpler than I had expected I solved the problem (to my own satisfaction, and in a one-dimensional fashion) on the back of an envelope, as I sat in solitary splendor in the beautiful suite that the St Louis hotel management supplied me in my capacity as president of the APS. I concluded that the retrograde motion of the President's head, in response to the rifles bullet shot, is consistent with the law of conservation of momentum, if one pays attention to the law of conservation of energy as well, and includes the momentum of all the material in entire problem. The simplest way In sec where I differ from most of the critics is to note that they treat the problem as though it involved only two interacting masses the bullet and the head . My analysis involves three interacting masses, the bullet, the jet of brain matter observable in frame 313, and the remaining part of the head It will turn out that the jet can carry forward more momentum than was brought in by the bullet, and the head recoils backward, as a rocket recoils when its jet fuel is ejected. (Cal . William H Hanson came to the same conclusion, independently.")

Everybody in the know knows that his barber sniped him after JFK's snarky remarks about his last haircut. Poor guy never saw customers again in his life.

Pick up a paper once in a while people. Especially those that have Top-secret written in big letters on the folder...:D

Thinking about all this bullet stuff is pretty interesting. Stuff like wound channel, entry and exit are always neat. Now discounting who the shooter may or may not have been unless Kennedy died of old age in some South American country on the beach we can pretty much figure he was indeed very much dead. Now if we hold that thought we can consider the objective of the shooter was to make Kennedy dead regardless of who the shooter was. So all in all Kennedy was dead and whatever the mission, the mission was accomplished.

Subjects like terminal ballistics are always a fun topic to discuss. Great for Halloween Parties of after church social gatherings. I have read plenty of ballistic reports and always walk away shaking my head. Bullets are really peculiar in how they act when they strike soft tissue, bone, trees, pavement and of course ballistic gelatin. While some of what they do is predictable there are times when you look and look and wonder how the hell did it do that. I played this game till my wife got tired of me making ballistic gel in the kitchen just so I could shoot the stuff. I was bored by then so I bid that project a farewell. It was entertaining while it lasted though.

I can’t un-see that! Oh my god, I was supposed to be thinking of something else this evening and now you’ve completely ruined the mood!
Like, when funny doesn't apply.

Edit: @GopherT if it you weren't joking, then my apology. I'm reading the forums because my wife is in control of the TV. Didn't get to finish Walking Dead.

What did the guy in Vegas expect to gain from killing and injuring hundred of people. Sick emotional gratification is a common motivator.

A patsy is a fool, not an innocent. The voices in his head tricked him.
The alleged perpetrator in the Vegas shooting wasn't mentally ill as the government and the media would like the public to believe. He did a good job of planning and executing (no pun intended) the attack on a large crowd.

One thing that's never brought up in the investigation of these mass shootings is who were the victims and also who would benefit from their death such as receiving an insurance payout, getting out of paying alimony to an ex wife, or simply parents getting rid of children that have become a financial burden. The possibility of indebted parents killing their children has been brought up as a possible motive in the Sandyhook school shooting.

When one of these shootings occurs, the survivors of the victims are interrogated to reveal any possibility of foul play and deception. I can't be certain of the accuracy of this statement, but I read someplace that one of the victims of the Virginia Tech massacre actually "Took the 5Th" when questioned by the FBI.

More on this later.

I won't pretend to know the exact medical definition of mental illness but if a killer has a set objective of a specific target(s) by some sort of nutty association of truth or when a mass killer has rage that exceeds the norms of normal human behavior as expressed in total blood lust, none of these conditions normally affect the innate intelligence of the person or their ability to plan their attack. That part is like driving a truck. It could be to the store or over a bike path filled with innocent people.

I know him. He is bartender in a bar in Boston. :)

Actually I was clueless but my wife nailed it. I remember LBJ being heavier.

Hey if anyone wants to buy a lot located in Lake LBJ in Texas let me know as we have one. Cheap too!

Whether he looks exactly like LBJ or not is not the issue with me. I just don’t like watching a biographical movie and seeing Famous Actor X in every scene. I would rather have an actor I cannot quite identify.

Actually I never gave it much thought but yeah, now that you mention it. After the movie Patton every time I saw George C. Scott I needed to remember he was not General Patton but an actor. Go figure huh?
