Sorry for the delay, having to login under a different username.
Keep the same setup you have with just the Red LEDs ON.
Need to get some voltage measurements on the LEDs.
Make sure to set the meter back to read DC volts.

Yes correct. Make sure to move the red test lead back to the receptacle on the right.
With all three Red LEDs ON measure the voltage across each LED.

 

As per red led pic
Top left led 2.09v
Mid 2.11
Bot right 2. 09

 

Excellent! Very close to what I expected.
Now do the same with the Green then Blue LEDs

Are you sure the voltage readings for the Green and Blue are not reversed?
Normally Blue Leds have a higher voltage then Green.

I did have the blue and the green around the wrong way put that right now
although th readings are still pretty much the same

 

Have noticed they are all numbered I expect that will be important

Are you talking about connecting to to mains side of the power supply as in the 240v live or the 12v postive side of the trans former?

 

There are fans as well powered off the 12v 4 in total won't this effect the reading?

 

Definitely not the ac side.
