Driving a mosfet pnp with an IR receiver.

All looks correct. Is that hot glue holding everything together?
Nope, It's call thermoplastic. When cold it's hard, with hot water becomes very soft and malleable.
Very useful to make any shape and insulates the wires at the same time.

No, the capacitor, if you look back in these chat I installed after seeing some people using an IR receiver in their projects use different values of caps. I started using a 47uF cap, but it took like 6 to 8 seconds waiting in order to turn on and off, so I changed it to 3.3uF and that had a good response.
So that was before of you sketch....

I only posted that circuit because for me it would not work reliably with just the cap installed.
Apparently it does work for you.
I'm just trying to know if you were using that thermoplastic when you only had the cap installed. Wondering if the thermoplastic is effecting the touch sensor.

No, I used the thermoplastic before the installation of the capacitor, once I installed it, the switching behavior became a lot better But sometimes I need it to click rapidly like 5 or 6 times in order to turn it off. This just happened rarely and only when I need it to turn it off.
When I saw your idea, I was sure that will fix it, so that's why I installed it directly.

The touch sensor relies on a change of capacitance to activate. I'm thinking the thermoplastic has enough capacitance to effect the circuit.

But the touch sensor is working correctly, it's working reliable. The IR receiver is the one with the problem. Actually if where not for the convenience that the IR receiver brings, the touch sensor would do fine... Unless I am missing something else!

I don't know what else to suggest. It worked fine on my breadboard.
Ok, I see.... The IR receiver I'm using doesn't make any difference in the circuit behavior?
Why the lamp turns off by itself after a few seconds? It didn't happen before the last change, it's like loosing power to maintain it on. But if I use the touch sensor, all it's well, no problem.

Not 100% sure. I can't verify as I'm using the TSOP3823 which is suppose to be a replacement for the obsolete VS1823.
When the IR receiver receives a signal, that goes through the touch sensor circuit and this turns on the mosfet. Somehow the mosfet gets it's gate discharge which makes it to turn off. But if I use the touch sensor directly, the mosfet keep it's gate charged and keeps going.
So, what could make the mosfet to loose it's gate charged up?

Then the IR receiver is picking up some interference and turning the touch sensor OFF, is the only explanation I have.
Are you still using that 12 to 5 volt buck converter?
Forgot to ask. If you turn the lamp on with the touch sensor can you turn it off with the remote?

Yes, I have been using it from the very beginning.. but now it's away from the IR receiver/touch sensor. So it's the mosfet.
