Hi Mr C,The other simple solution is to install sufficient buoyancy in the boat so that even when completely flooded, the boat stays afloat.
6 volts is fine but the regulator may not function properly with a supply of 8 volts as the dropout voltage is typically 2 volts.The motor is rated for 6v. Can I replace U1 with a 7806 (which I have on hand). Would the circuit need to be changed at all by using a 7806?
Unless he uses the switcher type regulator mentioned in post #174.At a nominal voltage of 11.1 volts for a 3s Lipo the 7806 will require a heatsink.
