When I was a kid, we had to walk 20 miles up hill both ways to get to school, and we had to pedal our bikes. :p

That looks sweet, but the cops used to take those types of things away from us.

Pretty sure after today's ride I am going to need another regulator. This thing is really annoying me. The original two phase stator and regulator are long gone, Harley OEM. Someone put on this high current system using a 3 phase stator. This is what I have. The bastards won't sell the regulator separate so I now have another brand new stator with an apparently failing regulator. The kit is $400. Time to find a 3 phase 30 amp regulator and try it, Have seen a few 3 phase lower current in the $40 range which I am good with so I'll see if I can make one of them work. That or I find a good solid design and build it.

wow this isn’t the first time you’ve mentioned this. My stock Harley one has lasted forever without an issue. I would switch to stock. Perhaps you can find a take off... when I first got my bike I bought all the take off item as people upgrade brand new bikes with 5 miles on them, i have pretty much brand new jugs, pistons, oil pump, cams... bunch of stuff to rebuild mine one day.

Sold the Bike in post # 1 $2350, now I need to finish my 1986 Yamaha Virago 1100cc.

That's what I have been thinking about. I want to get it back to stock. On the bright side it has been behaving the past few days. I also contacted JP Cycle where I bought the replacement and a few days short of a year they gave me full credit so happy about that. There is no need for as much power as this thing delivers.

I really liked those Yamaha Virago 1100cc bikes. They just seemed classy to me like the Honda Shadow I had.

We added a new exhaust system with an expansion chamber. Had to cut it up and reweld to get it to line up correctly. It completely improved the power band from low end all the way up to the top, big bump in midrange. We are planning to wrap the header with fiberglass pipe wrap. Next we will strip and get the tank and frame powder coated.

Good looking bike, small motors need the extra expansion when your throttling. I‘m surprised how much power those little motors have, I see people buzzing down the road on them, their crazy fast. I have a good friend who is re-doing his Honda 90, can‘t wait until it’s finished and I can take it for a spin.

Ya, the kid said he wanted to put white sidewalls on it, when he did I almost didn’t sell it to him, I started thinking to take that custom tank off and put a smaller tank on it more square old school, paint it mint green then take the seat off then add a cafe seat, powder coat, custom chrome pipes. Then take the tank and buy a “Shadow” which would have been 2 bikes, but he loved the bike so much I couldn’t take it from him. When he took it for a spin, his face was lit up like ear to ear. I new he would treat the bike with respect and would finished the build, he promised pictures when he’s done, I’m giving him “ Gremlin Guardian Angle”

My 1100 Shadow was super clean and not a Honda marking on it. First bike I ever had with direct drive. Anyway that spring I had major surgery and knew no bike for the summer. Like a fool I set the bike out front with a sign on it. Kid shows up within an hour, he was a passenger on his buddies bike. His buddy had a Kawasaki 900. I find out the kid has never owned a bike, he was 17. I was like OK and put him on the back, took the bike out and just nailed it. The kid wanted the bike and had the cash to buy it but I just had a bad feeling he would kill himself on that bike and his parents would hate me or something. I told the kid come back with his father. The kid made me promise not to sell the bike till after that day and he would be back. Came back with his dad and I explained it was not quite a good starter bike his dad was OK with it so he got the bike.

My brother-in-law a retired Marine Corps officer and attorney wanted a BMW so he went out and bought one. Sweet little BMW sports car. After several years he wanted another and the son of another attorney wanted that car so bad. My sister told Mike don't sell that car to that kid because he will kill himself within a week. Mike figured if it was OK with the kid's dad he would sell him the BMW. Sure enough, almost a week to the day, the kid totaled the BMW. Fortunately the kid was OK, just a few cracked ribs. This is in West Virginia where a BMW is a blast on those country winding roads. :)

Yeah I gave up my 69 Camaro w/ 350+ HP when I left the hills of Alabama and got down here on the flatlands of Georgia. Just wasn't as much fun anymore. About the only thrill left was punching it getting onto the interstate and leaving the ramp at 100mph but not nearly as much fun as a backroad in Bama.

My newest build, it’s a Mongoose fat tire bike with a 2 stroke 80cc, everything for the jackshaft had to be custom machined because of the tires. The final drive is a 7 speed and can go up to about 45 mph

Yeah don’t tell the cops. Legal is 49cc, 1 HP, single speed and top speed of 28 mph. Otherwise it’s considered a moped which makes for more head aches.
