Hi,

Very little update.

She's coming here! I almost cant believe it either. She is one of my most beloved friends from the really really distant past. I knew her whole family many years ago and still cant believe im going to meet her again after so very long.
Only one slight problem haha, i am older now and i look older, and she is older now too but she looks 25 no kidding.
I hope this works out in any case.
I'll finally be able to talk to her face to face about the various problems she is dealing with. It's such a blessing i cant describe how much.
She is still very upset about the little doggie too and i intend to help with that too.
Wish me luck guys and thanks for all the ideas and suggestions in the past.

Wonder what would be a nice 'so we meet again' gift for her?

You must be in love because you see her as 25. ;)

Flowers.

Edit: But not roses predominately. Each color has a special meaning to some women. Unless, of course, that is what you mean.
Hi,

Yeah i hear that. I'd have to give this some thought i guess. Def not red of course but maybe something else. There's a lot out there maybe i'll hunt around a little.

Can you cook? A home made meal served in a quiet setting (maybe al fresco?) gives a nice informal environment to talk. You have something to keep your hands busy and an occasional distraction that both can use to feel more comfortable. It can be a lot more personal and memorable.

Do you have any photos of her or other things that might interest her such as the old haunts or old friends? A print in a frame is a nice gift.

A gift representing a shared memory of you both would be a nice touch ... something like a private joke...
Hi,

That's a really really great idea, but you know this is very sad. I had a tape of her talking to me and one of her cousins when she was just 10 years old, but alas i cant find it. I kept it all this time too such a shame.
However, she is a very practical girl so not sure how much she would get out of that anyway. It would be cool though.
I think her mother was on that tape too, who's voice might upset her though as one of her depressions comes from losing her mom.

I'll have to give this some more thought too though, see what i can come up with.

Hi,

I do love her that's for certain, but i look at it as a friendly love and she really does look 25 because she takes care of her outward appearance because she has to for what she does, and besides her family must have a gene that allows them to age very well. I'm not kidding at all here. It would be easy to fall heads over heels for her no doubt, but i dont want to burden her with that kind of thing. She is such a great friend, and as you know friends can last forever (as this one almost has now) but lovers often split on bad terms and that's the end of any friendship.
So you see my reasoning here, besides she's too good for me anyway :)

Hi,

Yeah actually i can and that's an interesting idea too. I was thinking of taking her to dinner but might be hard to talk in a room full of strangers. If i could find a more private setting somehow where they serve food. Any ideas would be great.

Pînk roses are supposed to represent friendship, if I remember correctly.
Pink is OK. I was thinking of red, yellow, and white, which you may want to avoid unless in an arrangement.

As a house gift, it would be an arrangement. If going to diner, or even at home, a corsage might be more appropriate. My brother raised and bred orchids, so I always had a great supply of those. All women like flowers, and aside from the traditions tied to some roses, it really doesn't matter.

If you know she likes chocolates, that can be included -- or jelly beans if that's what she likes. I like the suggestion of something you remember together. Basically, stay away from anything that might make it appear you have feelings she may not share.

I don't know about the M&M's either.

I'm a big fan of eating outdoors, and it can often be quieter and more spread out. A burger and fries under the stars at a pub with a nice patio is more "upscale" to me than white linens and dudes in ties sitting near you. But everyone is different I suppose.

Hi again,

Oh yes, i dont want to overstep my boundaries that's for sure. She is such a dear that i cant stand to upset her or even take the chance.
Thanks :)

Hi again,

Wow i like that one. I know such a place too but not sure yet if we will be close enough to that place. Im not sure where she is going yet from the airport, not even sure if she knows yet. I'll check the weather for rain.
Maybe i'll check the area for other places like that too. That's the only one i know of so far because it is close to me. I have a feeling though she will end up some 20 miles from me, which maybe isnt that bad either though.
I really like this one, especially if it is at night.

Nearby water makes it even better, IMHO. I have the Rock River near me which, while it's no beauty, does make for a calming view.
