Never said smoking was good for you. But there are studies that indicate that obesity can be just as hazardous -- or even more so -- than moderate smoking.Saw that with many of the people I grew up with who started smoking in high school to look cool or whatever. Most have given it up and it shows (for the worse) while most of us who never started show the opposite. Mid 40's and still in the better end of the fitness scale.
On gal who's about 1 - 2 years older than me has not despite having had a heart attack and one major multi bypass surgery to fix the damage from it. 4 - 5 kids plus grandkids, a all around good person and many reasons to live but she already passes for mid 50's and won't give smoking up to save her life.
Same with a few cousins of mine that are a good 10 years younger than me that smoke . I can pas for their age easier than they can and they can pass for may age easier than I do.![]()
Of course, keeping fit, avoiding processed sugar, and good overall health habits will add (hopefully healthy) years to ones life.
Unfortunately, getting hit by a bus makes all the arguments for naught.
