Water sensor/power shutoff *urgent help needed*

    Is there a way this could be easily modified for battery or solar powered?

    I have a pond where there's no nearby power, and I have to manually open/close a water valve to maintain the level!

    Not sure about battery or solar. I don't think that would fit your application anyway. It sounds like you are just running a hose out there? If so a purely mechanical system would probably be best. If it's that far from electricity, then even if the mechanical system fails an overflow may not be a big deal.

    Just one question....

    Which IR sensor did you go with in the end and where did you get it from?

    Thanks for posting that link, erich. I have been meaning to post it but haven't had the time to dig it back out of the thread.

    BTW, the system is working great!
