Volume control post power amp

Can someone suggest what is the cheapest and most durable solution to manually alter the volume of a speaker driven by a power amp? One speaker is way too loud as it is in a smaller area. I cant use stereo levelling unfortunately as the power amp drives both speakers in mono. Hopefully some sort of passive, jack in , jack out potentiometer type device. I'm clueless.

A single power resistor in series with the offending speaker may be all you need and would be by far the cheapest option.
