An explanation that seems plausible to me is that in a society as preoccupied with the accuracy of time keeping as the Mayans appear to have been it seems likely if not certain that the task of refining the calendar and extending it into the future was an ongoing process that kept those charged with its calculation perpetually employed.
this sentence is really long:rolleyes:
You are right about that. By the time I finished writing it I was completely out of breathe:D.

It's also plausible that the Mayan calendar guy said "well, I've spent ten years working on this calendar. I'm certainly not going to live to 2012, so I think I'll probably stop here. It's not that they're going to think the world has ended, is it... just that the calendar's near the end. Who'd be gullible enough to think that?"

People are putting so much on the end of the Mayan calendar that they forget that it also back in time to before their own time. How or why did they do it? Know one really knows.

The Holy Roman church destroyed all but four of the Mayan books. Know one will ever know what scientific knowledge was lost.

The date of 12-21-2012 is to coincide with a celestial alignment of all the planets, the sun and moon with the dark center of the Milky Way. This is also something that was to have happened at the start of their calendar. How did they, with no telescopes, no computers know this? Just dumb ignorant people? We are just now finding out that a lot of these astronomical things a true.

They, Mayans, built pyramids every bit as big and bigger than the ancient Egyptians. not from limestone (like Egypt) but from granite and basalt. And many more of them than the Egyptians did. But there is almost no anthropological/archaeological work being done on them compared to the work done on the old world cultures. Why?

It would be a wet blanket on this doomsday party, but I'll tell you guys anyway.

:)

The sun passed the galactic center in 1998. There can be no galactic alignment between the sun and the center of the galaxy for another 320 million years. The alignment happens when the sun passes the imaginary plane which bisects the galaxy into a top and bottom half. The galaxy is only 1000 light years thick in this direction, but spans 100,000 light years across. The sun is near the outer edge and takes about 640 million years to complete one orbit of the center of the galaxy. It moves in a plane that is tilted in reference to the galactic plane. The sun crosses the galactic plane twice in one orbit.

Kinda like driving across a city limit. You know it's there, but passing it doesn't change anything but your current location.

Are you an atheist or agnostic? I've talked with many Atheist that were agnostic and didn't know it. The difference is Atheist believe in no god or higher power, agnostic does believe in a god or higher power but doesn't claim to know what that is. And doesn't think any of the religions are right or wrong.
I don't believe in any major world religions and I do not have a personal religion or god. I think there is evidence for this, which makes me atheist; if I believed it was indeterminate (that is, there is no evidence either way), I would be agnostic.

Tom-66, The evidence Is all around you ,how can you doubt
your fellowman. The fact that they are so many believers in a deity.
A higher power, all of miracles you see around you,it is easy
to make your statement to draw attention to yourself. I
notice you have the good books next to you to quote from
them. You read them more than the average member, people
that don't believe hold there money from there fellow man
and places of worship where good things take place.

What's wrong with pagans?

Some pagans had simple, beautiful and fairly logical believe systems. Most are now destroyed by Hanif dogma.

I'd much more likely be pagan, Buddhist or even Hindu than any of the confused, contradicted and guilt based Hanif religions.

Yes, the evidence is all around that a such a entity does not exist. Most of our fellow men are just not willing to take responsibility for their own lives, so to the dogma they go...

40% of UK are atheists.

What's a dogma or pagan or Hanif.
Hainf -> The start of the religions of a single god, God. Basically the religion of Ibraham (Abraham). Judaism, the dozens of forms of Christianity, the dozens of forms of Islam, Mormonism, these are all Hanif religions.

Dogma -> A doctrine or a group of doctrines relating to matters such as morality and faith, set forth in an authoritative manner by a church.

Pagan :

1. an offensive term that deliberately insults somebody who does not acknowledge the God of the Bible, Torah, or Koran

2. an offensive term that deliberately insults somebody's nonbelief in religion, way of life, or degree of knowledge

The Latin word pagus, from which pagan is derived, originally meant "something stuck in the ground as a landmark." It was extended metaphorically to "rural district, village," and the noun paganus was derived from it, denoting "country dweller, villager." This shifted in meaning, first to "civilian," and then (based on the early Christian notion that all members of the Church were "soldiers" of Jesus Christ) to "heathen."

Its about fellowman thats what brings us together
where ever we are, rich or poor makes no differents.
We go hand n' hand to the promise land.

There nothing wrong with teaching, like dogma
a lot of people don't know what there religion
means,they just attend services.

Hi Rifaa,

You should dig into some of the history of the Qur'an. Some Islamic scholars believe that not every verse recited by Muhammad and claimed by him to be 'The true word of Allah' was included. It is reasoned that not every verse was taken or transcribed when it was first uttered. Muhammad himself was not literate. He could not write. Muhammad himself said that the first revelations of God were when he was alone in his cave outside of Mecca. He had no scribes at that time. It was not until many years later that some of these were transcribed from memory.

There is also much disagreement amongst Islamic scholars about the various Hadith and the many biographers of Muhammad.

I guess that is why there are as many sects of Islam as there are of Chirstianity.

Muhammad(PBUH) was illiterate till the age of 40.
It was God who taught him. God does not take time to teach. As he wills it happens.
What I have does not contradict. If any contradiction is there God told us to find out and learn the truth and believe in his signs.

You might not see, but I do.
Muhammad (PBUH) taught others by his side.

I do not believe this, cause this is what you have and read. U did not research on this. If you had you will believe that this was not the case.

You should read this.
