Heck, this guy says the world will end on May 21st of next year (Judgement Day) and says he can prove it, too.

I didn't read through this long thread, so this doomsday prediction may have been already posted.
There is only one word to describe this person: nuts/crazy/insane. Wait, that's three. Anyway.

There are several errors in it, and they attempt to use numbers to prove Armageddon or something horrible.

I can prove that the world will end in LESS THAN 4 years from now, using exactly the same logic, but for my holy book, I refer to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

We know that the number 42 has specific significance in HTTG. But people neglect to realise how it predicts humanities' downfall. Take the number 42, and divide it by 6 in base 13. 6 is important because it is one plus the number of books written in the HTTG series (five), and one the last digit of the year of our prophet Douglas Adams' death (2001.) Also if you add all the digits in 2001 you get 3 and then if you take away the biggest digit you get 1. 13 is important because when you multiply 6 and 2 you get 12 and because 42 is even you must add 1. You then multiply 6 by 9, nine coming from the arithmetic mean of 6 and 12, in base 13 (as previously calculated) and arrive at 42. To prove that it is this specific date, we refer to Adams' death again; being 11 May 2011, we multiply our previously calculated numbers of 42, 9 and 13, ignoring 12 because it is not even and 6 because 11 - 6 is 5 and 5 is one less than 6 and one is the last digit of 2001, also it is the same number as the number of books in HTTG, also the maximum number of even numbers is 2, as from the birthyear of Adams'. Add the number of days from this product to Adams' death to get October 24th 2014. If that isn't conclusive proof, what else is!?
The WORLD will end on October 24th 2014!!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH !!! Boy..
A serious case of nut job....but on the long run, that day will definitely prove
to be the day he will be stoned :D..

Things people come up with....
Judgment day is a secret, it will never be known to man...

@retched..
U thinking climbing a mountain will stop from getting ur pants wet.
Don't take this personal, but that day everyone will literally wet ourselves from with in.

i don't beleve any of this either. but there are many outer space things that could do it. like astroid, comit, rouge black hole, rediation, the sun bloweing up becoming red darf (not suposted to hapen for a couple bilion years) alians. or it could be something on earth volcanos, desieses, earthquacke and the earth falls apart. relese of froszen methane, flooding, another ice age.

No... nononono..

I meant: Do things I always said I would do before I die.
In that case..mind accompanying me to one of Jupiter moon for slumber party.

And retched...it has to happen. Yesterday was a government holiday..and to make things worse, it's raining nuts in last 3 days ..

Go...figure

After giving this topic some thought, I have drawn my own conclusion about the 2012 end date. An explanation that seems plausible to me is that in a society as preoccupied with the accuracy of time keeping as the Mayans appear to have been it seems likely if not certain that the task of refining the calendar and extending it into the future was an ongoing process that kept those charged with its calculation perpetually employed. In fact it was the root of their power. If I am correct in this speculation then the current end date for the Mayan calendar was simply the limit of their powers of computational accuracy at the time when the Mayan civilization came to an end.

Just as engineers today recognize that their calculations have a finite resolution so too must our ancient technical counterparts have recognized that there were limits to the accuracy of their calculations. No doubt their reputations and perhaps their very lives depended on the accuracy of their calculations. That is a lot of pressure. On that last day, the time keeper finished the last calculation he would be able to make before calling it quits. He wrote down the results of his calculation and felt confident that he could rely on the results. Little did he know that he would never pick up where he left off since something beyond his control would thwart him from ever returning to the place where he had toiled daily in his effort to keep the calendar updated. We can only guess why he never made it back to his job. Was he killed by a natural disaster? Perhaps he died at the hands of an invading army. Maybe he took to his sickbed and died taking the knowledge of how to calculate time with him. We can only guess.

It is indeed impressive that the Mayans managed achievements well beyond what we would have expected. That of course is history viewed through the myopic lens of the present. We cannot conceive that an ancient civilization could understand the behavior of the universe to the extent that would permit them to predict the movement of stars in the heavens and based on that insight could draw accurate conclusion about the future behavior that those heavenly bodies would exhibit.

I am content to imagine that the much touted 2012 date is nothing more than the result of an unfinished calculation interrupted by a terminating event beyond all control; the result of a suspended calculation that was pending more attention that simply never came.

To-do list, is a list with important goals for a time period. Then the task task is done, it can be tick off. To mark the task is done and you can move on to the next. Much like a shopping list. As an example

And the due date is before the world is going under. So its up to your believes to check how good time you have. But its better to start right now with the list, so you are sure to do all off them. In particular number 1 and 4.
