Bill...I see why the mod's deleted them posts and it shud not be here. I agree with Mod's on this.
Why? All I did was point out contradictions in the first 2 chapters of Genesis. I did not alter anything or add anything. The words I used were directly from the currently accepted english translation of the Torah. I'm not sure why these words should be censored. After all, I did not write the contradictions, whoever wrote the Torah did.

Anyways you can email me those things, and I will be happy to tell u anything u need to know.
Sure, I'll wait for your response to the first one I sent you.

So..tell me..who want's to talk about the end of the world and how terrifying that day truly is? :D
Well, that's likely to get all religious.:)

I did not understand you...keep in mind that I am a simple man. And my native language prevents me from understanding some deep English words.
It takes a little bit of reading form my side to get some things into my tiny brain :p
Inconsistency, in this case, means that the Torah and the Qur'an do not always agree with themselves or with each other. These disagreements can be as simple as saying things a little differently a second time or more, or outright contradiction.

Like in the example I sent you from the Torah.;)

Just to keep to the original off-topic topic.

The end of the world will come. One way or another, it will come. Of course, the nature of that end depends on what your definition of the world is.

My own feeling about the topic is that whether the world will or will not end in 2012 is not as important as whether one of the newbies that has joined this forum with a question gets the answer he/she needs.

hgmjr

My biggest fear is whether I will hit 10k posts by then or not!

U know when I think of the end. I get chills down the spine...literally.
I pray to God that I do not live to see that day.

End of the world is not 2012. Well ! at least that's I believe.
All the signs are yet to be seen.....

Shall I continue telling you on the signs ?

Or one of the many contradictions on this page:

Don't forget the Bible itself:

tom... please do not believe what is written on those pages...
For One I know that Qur'an does not contradict with anything...
Every other book that was rewritten by man contradicts, for this reason we were told not to believe in them once the Qur'an was completed. The Holy Qur'an was for the whole of mankind. And Allah promised that he will protect it and he did. We have 7 to 10 year olds who recite Qur'an by heart. If that is not by Allah's will, I don't know what is.
{ed}
I like to add that we have blind kids that knows Qur'an by heart. Come here and I will personally show them to you.
You will be without words when they recite.

I can understand how they can recite it. It's not by God's (or Allah, if you wish) will, but by fanatical devotion to their religion. I can recite pi to some digits. 3.14159265358979323864862. This took me 2 days to learn; with a few years on my hands, I could probably remember in the hundreds of thousands or millions. Several have already done it. Pi is virtually random, whereas a book like the Quran is not, and contains structural information and context; therefore, you can learn it much easier than pi, which is, as far as we know, completely uniform and random in distribution.

If you think about it: being threatened with eternal damnation is a horrible thing for a small mind. You are told all you need to do is prey. So you do. You recite the book.

If I am not to believe what is on those pages, which contain clear contractions in both books, what can I believe in those books?

E.g. drinking alcohol. Most/all Muslim countries deny this, by this: 2:219 - Strong drink and games of chance. Say: In both is great sin. But then, the contradiction, on 16:67: And of the fruits of the date-palm, and grapes, whence ye derive strong drink and (also) good nourishment. Lo! therein is indeed a portent for people who have sense. And what about this page: http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/quran/contra/merciful.html

Religion is a fantastic way to control people. Think about it instead of blindly believing.

Still, whether or not there is a god (I hold the position of no belief), I don't think he would end it in 2012.

Tom
The difference between us is that I believe in my heart. No one controls me and force me to be like this. I do not believe blindly. I believe with open eyes and I see what you don't see.
U are right. I don't think God has planned the end on 2012..
What Happened was Mayan calender guy died..:D

so they were stuck with it....and probably the Mayan was wiped out at the time the calendar was written to 2012. Who knows...Funny thing is I do not give a d**m about the Mayans or their calender. It just what someone or some group may have made up.

As for alcohol. It is not allowed if you make it in ways to get high. Anything that is intoxicating is a threat to our very lives. So any thing that harms us is denied. Grapes are allowed but not when fermented. It is humans that makes the forbidden things.

I really do not understand what you are referring to when you say that it contradicts.
What you have is not the correct source or copy or what ever.
Cause from what I have learned, Qur'an does not contradict any way what soever.
The mere fact that no human can even write a single phrase like in Qur'an states that Qur'an was not from this earth. Is this not enough for you to think about it.

If it were written by a human like in Bible, try and make a verse like in Qur'an.
This just cannot be done..I cannot do it, You cannot do it, Your priests cannot do it, Our Imaams cannot do it, and even the worlds greatest scientists cannot do it. This has been tried, didn't you know that..I thought you all will know about what actually goes on around the world..But now it seems that..none of you truly know what the truth really is. This is really sad

Guys.. Stop.

Look. Regardless if there are contradictions or not. Dont not help each other on later projects because of what you may learn about each others "off-line" life.

Rifaa, you should know, that without being in person, Qur'an in hand, this is a feeble attempt.

Tom66, you should know that attempting to PROVE anything that has been wiped from natural memory can only be remembered in writing.

Rifaa has said his religion leads him to happiness, so Tom, why would you want to take that away from him?

If you find happiness, isn't that enough?

Some people find happiness in porn books. Are you gonna say "Girls dont look like that in 'real life'", Or, "The photos are edited/air-brushed" ?

Is that going to convince them it is worthless to them?

No. So stop.

You are not going to convince me that the 1972 PINTO was an ugly car.

Would pretty girls lean on an ugly car?

I say "No"

You may say "If they are tired, they might"

Let me have the Pinto.

Let Rifaa have the Quran

Let Tom have what it is that makes him happy.

(I can hear this being ignored)

I see what you mean.

I personally don't like religion because I think it takes away morality. Nothing in this world matters. It also stops people thinking for themselves.

But let's just stick to 2012...

The mayan calendar goes to some 4000 year date. They predict we celebrate their king. So they obviously thought we'd still be around. The mayans were just another failed civilisation. I do not think the world will end within the next few thousand or million years; although humans may not live to then, at the rate we're going.

No matter the religious beliefs of anyone, I am not going to stop helping them because of that. That would just be trivial and silly.

Don't worry retched, I'm cool. This conversation does not change my point of view.

I don't think tom is trying to take anything away from me. The way I see it tom is looking for answers.

Let me tell you something that most of you dunno about my faith. Every word that have said and every word that I wrote here telling you about my God puts me in his favor. By his will I am doing a good deed. Each word adds to my good deeds. I am doing one thing from the many things a Muslim shud do, that is spread the truth about him and his messenger.

This off line topic will never prevent me from the things that I used to do in this forum...Look around ..u can see my response to those whom I can guide.
I believe this holds true to tom too.

Like I said you have noting to worry abt from my side. I still am that same guy you met from the very first day. Nothing more, nothing less.

Well!! More to the friend side now that we have shared somethings.

Tell me...where can one find the true source for Mayan's history...

What is so great about them that makes their calender important..
Those guys are history for god's sake...so forget em.

Just talk about how we all are going to die in this miserable world of a planet

You're right, I'm looking for answers from you about why you believe. You see, secretly I believe in a god, I've just been displaying all the signs of disbelief and skepticism towards every claim. It's all a delusion, created by me. I'm being sarcastic, of course; please don't take this seriously.

Now ..I guess this will help in understanding for those who might be wondering why I congratulated tom for saying there is no God.
I did not see this but I somehow felt it. See why I believe :)
