A jury heard the case of Trayvon Martin too. But that doesn't mean either case was prosecuted effectively.
It also doesn't mean it wasn't prosecuted effectively. Maybe the actual facts of the case (not media reports) and the rules evidence (the kind used in court instead of the media) were not sufficient to convict.

So what should be done about it, lynch the prosecutor, Tar and Feather the jury because you don't agree with a legal result?

GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

A man who shot a Fairview police officer has been sentenced to more than 21 years in prison.

David Charlton, 41, pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges of attempted aggravated murder and felon in possession of a firearm.

Police said Charlton crashed an SUV into a fence near the Barberry Village Apartments on the 200 block of Southeast 188th Avenue in Gresham in April 2016.

Charlton left the scene and was confronted by an officer from Fairview and an officer from Gresham.

Court documents state Fairview Officer Scott Shropshire saw a gun in Charlton's hand, yelled "gun" and was then shot in the torso by Charlton.

NASHVILLE (Reuters) - A 50-year-old Tennessee man was arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct after he could not buy the popcorn he wanted while attending a movie, police said on Tuesday.

Paul West, of Clarksville, Tennessee, was charged with throwing an empty popcorn container at a theater employee and then punching and trying to bite the police officer who responded to the scene at 11:30 p.m. local time on Monday, Clarksville, Tennessee, Police spokesman Jim Knoll said by telephone.

"I haven't ever had anybody upset over popcorn," said Knoll, a civilian employee who previously worked 22 years on the Clarksville police force. The town is 45 miles northwest of Nashville.

This guy could have easily killed someone.

They gave this guy every chance and then some. Right foot, left foot, march.

It looks like you're getting lonely trying to keep this Thread alive. Here's some stuff to chew on:

5 Inglewood, Ca. cops find drunk couple sleeping, work for 45 minutes trying to wake them up and de-escalate their sleep.
Then killed them.

Las Vegas man asks cop for help, so the cop killed him.

Cops bust down door, frighten sleeping couple and shoot them 15 times, then announce they are cops.

Kiddy porn cop rapes 14 year old.

At least he has some experience in knowing what kiddy porn is.

Still in the same 24 hour period and there are 4 more...that I found.
Four more instances of completely innocent people attacked, beaten, arrested, and two dogs killed for, "no crime happened and the police had no right to be on the property".

And a special mention of Federal legislation already passed in Congress, requiring a mandatory 15 year sentence for any child (and their parents) if the child photos their crotch, or even talks about doing that. One stupid photo by a rebellious teenager and a whole family does a minimum of 15 years in prison. This is a very dangerous time to have children!

I know you're kidding, but I want to say here that the contributions of @#12 are a useful addition to the conversation. The "war" I was originally talking about – the one orchestrated out of the WhiteHouse – has ended for now, as far as I can tell. So on one hand I feel this thread could come to an end. But on the other hand we have serious problems with policing in this country and really haven't identified a solution. Wishing people would behave better isn't a plan.

Frankly, if I was the victim in one of #12's cop abuse stories, it would be VERY hard for me not to mount a hugely disproportional response. Come on my property and shoot my pets? I'm talking flamethrowers, grenades and AR-15s. Laser cannons and land mines. Nothing left.

I don't have any way to do that and who know's what would happen if I was actually presented the opportunity. Injustice at that level, by government-sponsored thugs, makes me crazy mad. It may have something to do with why all my ancestors were in this country before the American Revolution – a genetic predisposition to despise authority.

Nothing was ever said about the 'war on citizens',
I know you are joking, and I appreciate the effort.

Thank you.
I feel this thread could come to an end.
So do I.

The problem won't come to an end as long as you find a LEO convicted of 4 felonies and 3 misdemeanors getting 100 days of house arrest and some stupid selfie causes 3 average citizens to do 15 years (each) in Federal prison. The, "system" is seriously out of whack, and complaining on a website won't fix it, but making the general population aware that a problem exists is a good thing. There are still people who don't even believe that horrible results happen in a seemingly random manner, every day, and there is no justice for police officers. All they have to do is say, "I feared for my life" and it doesn't matter that the guy he murdered was already in a diabetic coma. A LEO's emotions are YOUR crime, and you can be executed, on the spot, if a LEO has, "feelz". Meanwhile, your 13 year old daughter sends a selfie of her boobs and you're going to do a mandatory minimum of 15 years. WTF?

A few bad apples? Why don't the good apples stop them? Because the bad apples are in power and a good apple will suffer the full force of the system if he does anything to stop the status quo.

Well, there ya' go. That's the reality, and it's surprising that there is not an actual, shooting level, War on Cops.
As for rehashing it here? Been there done that. I say, "slam the door". This one is so far past done that it's time to scatter the ashes.

Here's a cute pair for today.:)
If you don't like cops, call a crackhead.
The latest changes in hiring indicate that if you do like cops, you're still going to call a crackhead...with a badge and a gun!
http://thefreethoughtproject.com/crackheads-wanted-cops/

I'm thinking, "Give him a hit of crack and he might do the job better than traditional cops.";)
http://thefreethoughtproject.com/man-calls-911-finds-stolen-truck-cops-refuse-help-got-back/

Who ya' gonna call after you tell the cops exactly where your stolen truck is, with the thief inside it, and they won't get up off their doughnut widened butts to go arrest a Grand Theft, Auto?:D

A crackhead!

Who said, "War on Cops"?
From the looks of this, it's an internal problem.:D

I'm not a cop hater, but all cops are bad in the sense that they need to be in-order to operate in the criminal world they work in, a unfortunately necessary evil. I don't like cops and will only tolerate the cops that follow the law to the letter with citizens who are not proven criminals. My #1 rule to my kids is 'don't talk to the police', they are not your friend.

Being a cops sucks because of all the stupid people you see every day.
