That’s actually a pretty cool IC. The telephone hybrid was an amazing feat of engineering, overall. Not just the theory but the amazing, bullet-proof implementation by Western Electric. I miss POTS and the PSTN. I hate seeing the last mile hanging from poles and cut off. It used to be so rigproudly maintained. The current user terminations for cable are such a terrible mess.

It might be weird, but it makes me sad.

Me, too. I have two land lines (gotta have a backup). I use one of them every time the cable goes out.

The hybrid is one of my favorite circuits to play with; my file on the hybrid is over an inch thick. I did a google patents dive back to the 1920's. Those boys were smart.
