Sunny Boy inverter fail

Greetings , gentlemen/persons,
I have a SMA SunnyBoy 1100 solar inverter which has stopped "inverting' with a "Relay K1 open" fault. I have managed to dismantle the inverter and have had a look around and find no obvious damage.
Trying to get any information on these devices is proving hard. All I talk to say these devices are not repairable(cost wise) and suggest replacement.
As the unit is about ten years old they are probably right but I would like to know if anyone has had any luck repairing same and if circuit diagrams are available(nothing on the net).
Having a close look at the boards I feel that detailed repair is not really an option in a home workshop(lots of surface mount and unidentified ics on multilayer board).
I would be interested to know if anyone has done any repairs to these boards and what sort of faults were found.
thanks

Well, I have not done any work on them, don't own one and really know very little about them. But, nobody else has yet responded and, being bored at the moment, I started searching around (hey, maybe I will get one some day).

Here is the company bottom line:

It seems like that error is associated with a bad inverter and an expensive replacement - correct?

If nobody responds after a while, maybe a more specialized board may be worthwhile.

Ive repaired 2 Solar River brand 1.5Kw GTI units that had a reading fault of Relay Fault. It turned out to be that the contacts weren't closing properly. All I did was remove the cover from the relays & bent the fixed lower contacts up slightly. This fixed the fault.
