Did that person happen to say why? Was it in reference to D4 and D5 not needing to be Schottky diodes?

With the currents you're dealing with, I don't see a problem.

You don't give a part number for the IC connected to the inductors, if it's a switching regulator, you have to use a Schottky diode.

 

Relative to standard diodes, schottky diodes typically have lower forward voltage and faster recovery times (better for higher frequency switching), but a little higher reverse leakage current. Looking at the use case for your circuit, could these behaviors benefit you?

 

yes, switching regulator is PAM2861 or AL8861.
i thought ss24 would be a good choice?
lower voltage drop is the main reason i chose these.
i don't know what problems higher reverse current leakage would cause.
