Daughter and SIL, traveled four hours from Ho-Chi-Min to a hotel somewhere in the middle of the Mekong River Delta - Vietnam. A short stay of 24 hours enough to relax in the middle of silence.

I wrote this quite a while ago (originally in 2011) after I found out about the history of Chinese involvement in WW I—your post reminded my of it. Like all nations, China has its strengths and weaknesses and its current government is certainly far from ideal. But there is a lot of history in China, and if WW II has already become "ancient history" built on mythology for most of the world, WW I is even more remote—basically forgotten.
