Dear friends,

I want to design crystal clock oscillator, but there are different types of circuits for it. which characteristics should I look at?

25 MHz is a poor place to be learning about and experimenting with oscillators. You might be curious about why this is so. The answer has to do with the frequency. In order to get good results you have to use careful layout and construction practices. At that frequency, probing the circuit can radically change its behavior. If you know what you are doing you can take steps to avoid these problems. If you don't know what you are doing you will struggle a great deal to understand what is going on. You want to pick a much lower frequency to experiment and learn.

In particular you might want to investigate the Phase Locked Loop, where you control a high frequency VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) by phase locking it to a lower frequency reference. Building an oscillator in the 1-2 MHz. range is where you want to start.
