The phrase, "High pot test" crossed my mind last night. This morning, I check AAC and there's a thread about high pot in Off Topic. Just a suggestion.

 

Sounds like a do-er. Could have the employees getting drug tested, or the kids at school by the principal etc.

 

When I was 20, I'd come home from fixing TV's and adjust my wife's horizontal hold...

Can you give a title for your last work? I find it hard to grasp its meaning.

Back when one tube (or transistor) did what a chip does now (and this is still an old TV) you bet they had adjustments. Whole banks of them. Things like horizontal adjust, vertical adjusts, offsets, and don't get started on colors and offsets. This was bread and butter to TV techs. The horizontal and vertical syncs were meant for the home user though.

A lot of relatively newer TVs have automatic degauss. The older ones didn't. That meant there had to be an adjustment for magnetic north, and if you had a kid (like me) that discovered the wonderful patterns magnets left on CRTs (semi permanent until a TV tech brought his degausser) that no adjustment took care of.

Hehe, yea, our old tube TV we had when I was little had a purple discoloration in the corner from that...

I seem to remember a bunch of knobs on my grandmas old TV (oh how I wish I had an old TV to rip into... all those parts...), but I've never had a TV with anything but buttons. Our newest TV doesn't even have those.

 

I still have my degaussing coil. Sometimes even those with degausing at startup, the field wasn't strong enough to take care of the problem.

With fewer CRTs, I guess the degaussing coil could be used for some magnetic field experiments. Who knows, maybe some of those over-unity types will want it for some "free energy."
