Iam looking at trying out a Flex rigid design to save some component cost,etc my current design has 5 ribbon cables running from a main pcb to sub pcbs.I can only find flex rigid designs that have the flexible pcb start at a edge of the rigid pcb, my question is could i have the flexible pcb start say in the middle of the rigid pcb instead of a edge?I imagine this highly depends on the pcb manufacturers capabilities but iam not sure if this type of design i want is possible to produce or what it would be called so i could ask a pcb manufacturer.

 

There isn't such PCB designs. The flex part is just an extension to the rigid part and there fore starts from the edge.
