Hi everyone!

My friend and I are working on designing a battery pack for our e-bike and would love some advice and consultation from anyone with experience in this area. We’re pretty new to this and are still learning about the constraints, limitations, and what to consider in terms of design.

Project Details:
Battery Cells: Planning to use 18650 (or 21700) lithium-ion cells.
Desired Voltage: 36V (10S) or 48V (13S) depending on final configuration.
Capacity: We’re aiming for a pack with a range of 10-15Ah.

Configuration Plan:
Series and Parallel: We’re considering a 10S4P configuration (or 13S if we go for a 48V system), with a total of 40 cells in our pack.
Battery Management System (BMS): We're planning to use a BMS for cell balancing, overcharge, and discharge protection. We need advice on BMS specs like current rating and wiring connections.

1. Cell Arrangement: What’s the best way to physically arrange the cells for heat dissipation and safety? We’re thinking of using cell holders or heat shrink but aren’t sure what’s more effective.
2. BMS Setup: We’ve read that the BMS needs to be connected to each series group for cell monitoring and balancing. Is there any resources I can use to read more about BMS, I think I need more information about its functionality before diving in to the project.
3. Cooling Solutions: Should we add additional cooling (like heat sinks or fans) in the battery housing, or will the natural airflow while riding be enough to cool the pack?
