Modify bluetooth keyboard?

I have a RII bluetooth keyboard that I really like, but it has two shortcomings I'm interested in modifying if possible. I've included pictures of what's inside a RII model that's close to the one I'd like to modify (mine is essentially the same design minus the touchpad).

1) The keyboard backlight shuts down after one minute. I'd like to eliminate the timeout feature or keep it on permanently.

2) The keyboard goes to sleep after three minutes, forcing me to wait a few seconds while it reconnects which is quite irritating. I'd rather keep it connected permanently and charge the battery more often (or upgrade the battery to something more formidable) than have to wake it up at least a dozen times a day.

Is it possible to implement these changes? Can the existing circuitry be modified or would I have to create a new printed circuit board? Any direction anyone could point me in would be greatly appreciated!

The easiest option is to find a keyboard that has configurable sleep and backlight settings.
Modifying something like this is pretty much going to involve recreating the PCB and controller. It was not made to be modified.

That's kind of what I was expecting, so thanks for letting me know. I think I can at least figure out a simple way to wire the keyboard's backlight to its own on/off switch, but I'm not sure how to find its voltage/amp requirements. Is there a way to do this using a volt meter?
