There's no question (in my mind) that human physiology has not evolved to tolerate refined sugar or high-calorie diets in general. Our bodies are far too efficient at conserving the available energy, and saving excess calories for a later (assumed) famine.

Luckily, I never acquired a taste for extremely sweetened foods and beverages -- even as a kid.

But, I love beer, pizza, grilled-cheese sandwiches, bacon, beef, and potatoes (not necessarily in that order) . I could cut back, but I choose not to.

Life is for living while you are.

Sorry I missed this earlier. Fascinating.

My daughters had their kids during or after the time I lost weight on low-carb and became a voice against sugar. They allow them treats but rarely and in small doses. So glad.

Sugar is the most poisonous edible "nutrient" that nature ever invented ... it's the single most addictive substance legally available in the entire world
Heck, in my house a 5.0 Lb bag of sugar is about at least a 20 year supply. Friends come over and I offer coffee, Next try and recall where the sugar is.
