Hi everyone!

I just bought a multimeter and, in the continuity test, it shows 0.13 and beeps even without the cables! Is it broken?

Thanks!20180106_164747.jpg

No, your new meter is not neccessarily broken. This meter is trying to put a constant current across the PN junction and measure the voltage needed. If you have no path for the current. Also, it may be beeping because there are no leads in the unit (warning that the leads may be connected wrong (my Fluke beeps if I have no cables plugged in or plugged into the amp terminal when I switch to continuity).

Connect it correctly and try again. Then get worried.

Did you try resetting it by removing the battery? Probably won't fix it but worth a try
Thanks! Please, won't this violate the warranty? (Sorry for the bad english).

I did it and didn't worked. So, time to be worried!

Is the hold function off?
Some meters will have the hold function on when you switch them on.
Hold isn't on... =(

Check out this video at about 1:28, it might help
Awesome video, but didn't helped (And I understood it, because I'm Brazilian!)

Thanks everyone! Let's just hope they replace it for a new one! =)

I think mine shows the infinity symbol just as with regular resistance ranges - but its not something you take much notice when there's readings to be read.

I think not. DO some further testings

Judging from this and your other insightful posts, it is obvious you are extremely knowledgeable in this subject matter. Perhaps you should help the TS out and expand on your claim? Maybe provide a detailed lists of tests that could be performed?
