Hi, I purchased a piece of electrochromic film from smarttint.com which switches from opaque to transparent when a voltage is applied to it. I'm looking for an appropriate inverter to power it using AA or other standard batteries, if possible. The spec sheet is available here (http://shop.smarttint.com/smart-tint-non-adhesive_ep_42-1.html) Mine is the Non-adhesive, low voltage version. The main requirements are:

35-75 VAC
50-60Hz
2.7mA (my sheet is 8 x 5.5 in)

Any idea if there is something that can provide this, or even a wall converter that would work? They do sell a mobile adapter so it seems like it is possible, but it seems a little overkill as it provides 5A which is much more than I need. I'm using this for an art project with an Arduino that I hope to use to turn the film on and off through a relay. I saw a previous post with a similar question for but a much higher current (1.5A), so I was wondering if there's an easy and cheaper solution for this.

Hi Seeyf,

I have exactly the same problem/question with a SmartTint glass for my car.
Their mobile adapter from 12VDC to 65 VAC is very expensive.

Have you found any inverter solution, supplier or manufacturer ?

Older unanswered thread, I know but.

Given the low current draw you may be able to get by with either a very simple push pull circuit or a 555 or like dedicated timer IC driver and a small line voltage transformer running at a different than normal speced voltage.

Given you need 35 - 75 VAC at just a few milliamps a common 120 VAC to 12 - 18 VAC step down transformer running in reverse from a ~6 volt battery pack and oscillator circuit would give you about 40 - 60 VAC.

Depending on your present electronic skills and knowledge things can be figured out from here as to what would be the most feasible for you to build.

Thank you for information.

As I'm not skilled, I'm looking for the manufactured one (pictured joined), with this specifications, that must be avalaible somewhere.
Module Properties: Non-isolated step-up module Input Voltage: DC 10-32 V
