Help!
pin 1 - VCC
pin 2 - NC
pin 3 - NC
pin 4 - NC
pin 5 - SDA
pin 6 - SCL
pin 7 - NC
pin 8 - VSS

 

Microchip's PIC12F508 has Vss and Vdd in the right place.
As it doesn't have a built-in I2C interface, someone could have easily written one in software and put it on pins 5 and 6.

 

For example the PIC12F1822 and 1840 have I2C pins at same place.

 

Why would it be an MCU with no inputs or outputs^? More likely a ROM or maybe a sensor of some sort. What is the board (post some good hi-res photos) and where is the IC in relation to those you know?

^OK, it could be a co-processor doing some parallel function...

 

The upper IC is identified as Microchip AT24C01C/AT24C02C serial EEPROM.

The device in question is the lower drawing marked with ?

 

Without knowing anything about the drawing, circuit, etc - my first guess is that it's just another serial eeprom like the one above it.

 

Since the patent US5847450A expired, many manufacturers have launched low-priced MCUs of this pinout.
