Identifying an MCU by the pin-out

Microchip's PIC12F508 has Vss and Vdd in the right place.
As it doesn't have a built-in I2C interface, someone could have easily written one in software and put it on pins 5 and 6.

Why would it be an MCU with no inputs or outputs^? More likely a ROM or maybe a sensor of some sort. What is the board (post some good hi-res photos) and where is the IC in relation to those you know?

^OK, it could be a co-processor doing some parallel function...
