Title:

Hello everyone,

I am trying to identify a burnt component on a Cartographer V3 probe that was accidentally connected with reversed polarity.
After the incident, the probe still powers on and the blue LED reacts when metal is brought close to the sensor. However, it is no longer detected over USB and it does not appear on the CAN bus.
The damaged component is located very close to the 5V/GND power input. There is an identical undamaged component elsewhere on the board, and the marking appears to be "05J" (possibly "C5J", depending on how the marking is interpreted).
The damaged component is also the only part that becomes hot when power is applied.
I am mainly looking for help identifying this component so I can obtain a replacement. If anyone recognizes the marking, the package, or the likely function of the component, I would greatly appreciate the information.
I have attached close-up photos of the board, the damaged component, and the matching component on the same PCB.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

One device that has a marking C5J is the SN74LVC1G3157DCKR, an analog (or digital) SPDT switch device .
Not sure if that is the right part or not, one would have to follow the traces to see if it makes further sense.

Welcome to AAC

It would be helpful if you identified, in the photos, which component you are referring to with a ring or an arrow. Also please ensure your pictures are in focus as it's not just the markings that are important; the case style, the way it's connected, etc. all play a part in identification. A focussed close up of the damaged part, as well as the wider view, would also help. If you can take the wide view from directly above that helps too. A wide shot of the back of the board can often be useful, if there are supporting parts on there.

It's a possibility, in an SC70-6 case, but can't see why you'd use one (or two) there, at the moment.
