How's the weather?

I changed out king pins ONCE. It was on a '70 International Harvester Travelall. A great 2 wheel drive truck.

I was trying to loosen the king pin nut and the racket catch inside the racket broke. My pulling hand slammed into a bolt and cotter pin assembly on a supporting structure.

The un-bent portion of the cotter pin punctured the top side of my thumb, a few mm from the top of the nail. About 1/4 in. deep and bled like crazy. Brought tears.

About a week later......complete nail came off. That was several decades ago. It's tried to grow back, but until recent years, it always looked alien.

Have always bent both sides of cotter pins since.

Oh....the weather is fair to middlin.

The smarter me: "Oh, it's an accident ahead. Don't keep reading, there are likely injuries."
The less smart me: "accident? I've gotta read this!"
Either me: "God, why did I read that? That was so gross!"
...and three seconds later: "his weather is 'fair to middlin?' Lucky guy!"

Will you write me a note to say it is? Imagine how many more feathers I could earn by the end of the month with a prescription for some Ritalin, Adderall, or Dexedrine.
I don't know about you earning more feathers with any of those drugs... but if you took them all at once I wouldn't be surprised if you were able to achieve flight!:D

Very wonderful weather today. Saving $1000 weather!
I looked up the Camber kits for my car last night and saw that I could buy all 6 of them for $210.32 and the whole job is about replacing the washers on 6 bolts, 4 of which I replaced a few weeks ago. Brand new, no rust, no difficulties.
So I went back to Tire Kingdom and told them I couldn't come up with $1000 for them to do the camber job.
Then I asked to look at the alignment machine readouts.
The camber was never wrong in the first place!!!!!:mad::mad:
I thought I was looking at 3 readouts from the parking lot, but I was looking at 6 readouts, 3 for the front and 3 for the rear. The, "before" page said the camber didn't need adjusting and all 6 "after" fields were green before I got the car back yesterday.
Bad Tire Kingdom!

Heat index over 90F today. Dual air conditioning in my new (used) car.:)

Surprise. The EGR valve caused a lot of improvement. The car accelerates better, shifts smoother, and the gas mileage improved by 2.5 MPG in the 10 miles I exercised it today. (Meanwhile, the trouble light did not pop back up on the dashboard.) I think the ECU was going into some lame limping mode with the bad EGR valve and now it has decided to do the fuel optimization job it's supposed to do.:p

It is the hottest time of the year here, and today is the last official day of the Songkran festival. I haven't left the house for three days, and you can see why.

Not quite the case here. Starting on Friday night and finally ending sometime this morning we got about 46" of snow. I'm sure I will be very grateful for it as fire season starts, but right now I'm having a hard time finding the love.

Today us the sixth straight day of crystal clear skies and 70-75 F and calm winds. At least three more clear days ahead.

Spring has sprung in Western Pa.

Couldn't make it work Monday, water receded some yesterday and I splashed down in the company parking puddle. Today we get more rain. 100% chance come evening.

I'm in the middle of a week of 66F to 81F and no rain. This is excellent for people who live in Florida.
Problem? I finished fixing every mechanical thing the car needed. Now I'm wondering what to do next.
Chase down the dome light wiring? No. Working inside a black car at 90 F is not a good idea.
I think I'll get one of those closet LED lights and stick it to the ceiling.:D

I know some people at my local robotics club who would love to help you put a microcontroller on that dome light.

put a microcontroller on that dome light.
It already has one. That's why it doesn't work.:D
The wiring diagram shows that the front and rear dome lights are on the same wire, but the front never shuts off.
They are obviously not on the same wire, but they are on the same microcontroller.;)
