This was removed from a Elm327 Wifi obd2 reader
it had invalid WIfi settings so it was unable to make a wifi connection

I tried shorting GND to RST while only applying 3.3v to the 3.3vpin - no luck

any tips would be appreciated . that mess on the RS232 header came like that from the seller

 

My OBD reader doesn’t have WiFi settings that can be changed. It establishes a WiFi network that you join with your phone or whatever. Can you see your OBD if you scan for WiFi networks?

this one has its own internal wifi settings like any other AP
ADHOC mode is stupid as only certain devices can access it
it has station MOde or AP mode. but the wifi settings are notcompabile.

Wifi settings were to set to HEX 10 digits, (numbers) and WPA2-PSK which wont allow it to connect
