we are currently on on mobot making, and we are wondering on what particular sensor to be used. we are discussing on what sensor to be used if we will use ir or the superbright leds.
can you guys help us on this matter and if there any schematic you can provide to me.
i will be appreciative about it thanks...

 

What is the sensor to sense? LED's don't work well for weight, for instance.

If you use something like a phototransistor, then IR illumination is best. If you use a sensor like a TAOS light to voltage converter, then an LED that gives good contrast between the line and the background is good.

 

sir meaning to say the ir sensors are better than a superbrightLEDS - phototransistor tandem when it comes to the sensing of black line on the race track of a line follower mobot?..
we are still having a discussion on what to use to get the better result when turning on the tracks..
do you have guys any info about the sensitivity of the ir and the phototransistors.

You can download data sheets for the various IR emitters and phototransistors. You may have to experiment a bit to get the result you wish.
