I have a device (PS5 HD Camera) that has gone faulty and I am trouble shooting it to locate its fault, but cant even work out which pin is the +Ve .etc......

Inside and mounted to the motherboard is a USB female connector..... but this is no ordinary USB connector as it is the size and shape of a "Micro-B USB, however this has 9 pins.....but before you reply back with "have you tried the Micro-B 3.0, I can confirm that it is not this shape....

I heave searched the internet high and low, also been on USB.org but I cannot find anything resembling this connector.

Images of it on here:

Anyone able to help me please?

Welcome to AAC.

Unfortunately, alone, that photo is mostly useless to anyone who doesn’t already know the answer but might otherwise be able to help. More angles might get you some help.

MODERATION NOTE: Please upload the photos to AAC rather than a third party image sharing site.

I thought I had provided enough images with various angles.

Also, I tried to find the Rules for posting in this Forum but couldn't find anything referring to how to attach photos...apart from one that stated MEDIA and included Imgur.
Could you please direct me to the "Rules" so that I can follow these in future.

Lastly, I have managed to locate something similar on Reddit and it seems this connector might well be a Proprietary product used to deliver Video / Audio and therefore not have any information available outside of Sony (Playstation) access.

Think I might put this one to bed and just purchase a replacement product, which would be cheaper than attempting to repair it
Thanks again though

Well, that’s the difficulty, for me, with my browser, I was able to see only one image.

In general, except for video which this forum will not accept for upload, we encourage direct uploads. This is both because of the sort of problem I experienced, and those cases where the images no longer exist on the third party site making the post much less useful for future reference.

You didn’t do anything wrong. You couldn’t have known about it, that’s the reason I made my comment bold—not for severity but for recognition. I think that sort of thing being unrelated to the topic can be easily missed. I hope I didn’t give the wrong impression.

That’s a shame. I did look and think I found the cable mounted version but not the PCB one. Sony’s only authorized parts seller has nothing useful.

The normal technique for occasions like this is to find a dead donor unit and hope the part(s) you want are good.

But, why do you think it is the connector that is bad?
