Coronavirus?!

Mandates are not punishment, instead they are common sense.
Screenings, stay home orders, travel restrictions, quarantine, masking... are also common sense to keep the sick antivaxxers away from normal people.
Covid-19 is a medical pandemic, not a silly game.

It is official now. The big-hearted humanitarian Bill Gates seems to agree that those who are not vaccinated should be punished harshly (1 minute into the video). I apologize for the adult language in this clip.

There is a poor police officer of 20 years who resigned recently because he compared forced vaccinations purposed to officers like the first acts of the Holocaust. He was flamed so bad over the statement it ruined his career.

The irony is uncanny..

Looked to me like he was laughing at the absurdity of Cooper's posits to me. One of the absurd propositions from the far right is to condition Welfare payments being made only after passing a drug test. While it sounds reasonable, just how much would that require in the national budget to fund, regulate, and administer? Just as absurd as requiring proof of current and up to date vaccinations to receive Social Security. Just because something sounds reasonable doesn't make it right.

At the rate Omicron is spreading, boosters won't be needed in a month as the most of the worlds population will have already been infected and defacto boosted by Omicron if you have prior vaccination.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-59822209
France reported Europe's highest ever daily figure for the second day in a row, at 208,000 cases.
And the US has reported a record average of 265,427 cases a day over the last week, according to Johns Hopkins.
Denmark, Portugal, the UK and Australia have all also reported record-breaking figures.
Poland reported 794 Covid-related deaths on Wednesday, the highest number in its fourth wave of the pandemic. More than three-quarters of these were unvaccinated people.

Studies suggest that Omicron - which has quickly become dominant in numerous countries - is milder than the Delta variant, but far more contagious. It is believed to be driving the surge in cases, with French health minister Olivier Véran telling reporters he would "no longer speak of a wave when it comes to Omicron" but a "tidal wave".

Fully vaccinated and have received my booster shot.

And was just confirmed positive for Covid. I’m in shock. Just spent yesterday with my young grandchildren and my 90 y.o. Mother.

I'm now worried about myself and my wife. 4 of our grandkids came to visit Christmas day, and we just heard all 4 have now tested positive for covid. They like their parents aren't vaccinated. They then all had to get tested at work a few times a week. Hope both of our boosters work.

It is also my understanding from preliminary studies that amount of mitations on omicron is such that exposure to it should offer very broad immunity going forward.

The data was from a pretty small study in SA but the fact that new Delta quickly cases fall when Omicron enters the show implies that's likely the case.

Omicron wave will only end after masses are infected - analysis
Israel has no plan to stop the Omicron wave, which has already swept across the country.

“The fifth wave might end when a large number of people will be infected,” said Prof. Cyrille Cohen, head of the immunology lab at Bar-Ilan University. “Only through natural exposure when protected with vaccines do I see this virus becoming endemic.”

The first and second waves ended when Israel locked down, stopping the spread of the virus but causing severe damage to the country’s economy and people’s mental and emotional health.

Did you bother to go back to see the whole inter view that that clip was taken from? You do understand that even though he calls himself a "comedian" he's not really and when he tried to be one he was a failure. Taking something out of context some times makes it different than what it was.

Dick you once told me not too long ago I amuse you. Sorry to say you keep disappointing me lately. I'm not saying that as you being a moderator but only as a posting member.

My daughter is extremely mad at me. For putting her children at risk. I don’t understand. She comes across as if I did it on purpose.
It's an emotional response from a mother and unfortunately is more emotional due the the drum-beat of crisis in the media. She and everyone should understand it's just a matter of time before infection during this wave. The vast majority of individual mild cases will have 100% recoveries. Early detection and information by you is better than a late reaction due to symptoms from infection with some unknown source.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I agree with you. It is an emotional response from a mother and not well thought out under the circumstances. Thanks for mentioning that.

Looking for someone to blame is a very human weakness, my friend. On the other hand, people seem to have forgotten that from the very beginning the idea has been to "flatten the curve". And that means that eventually everyone (or at least the vast majority) is going to get infected. The plan was to avoid getting everyone infected at the same time so as not to collapse the health system. ... but the fact remains that every single one of us will most likely be infected at one point or another, with the vaccine being a defense system to accelerate recovery and prevent symptoms from being too severe and require hospitalization.

The more of this I read it has become Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be). People vaccinated to include booster are testing positive in droves. This includes members right here among us. What does seem to hold true is those who are vaccinated develop, for the most part, milder symptoms. This includes the elderly. At this point it would seem those of us who have managed to avoid COVID will eventually get COVID in one flavor or another. Whatever will be will be. Short of living in a bubble I see no way to avoid infection. This has managed to drag on for how long now and at what cost?

This has family divided which is simply unbelievable. I am seeing families at odds with each other. I believe they claimed the Civil War pitted brother against brother, well here we are today.

It is going to get more emotional...

https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2021/12/23/bc-covid-tests-denied-pcr/

Tests are hard to come by. Province of BC does not seek to believe in rapid tests at all. And here is the best news of all - advice is to assume you have COVID and forego testing if you have mild sysmptoms. However, there are people developing long covid even after mild cases (most are younger women BTW, not surprisingly as that is the group more susceptible to autoimmune disorders). To access treatment you need a PCR verified COVID diagnosis! What a brilliant set up.

And the latest news is as follows: public health is looking into ways of letting workers who tested positive for COVID return to work faster to combat absenteeism.

…and not to mention the elderly father and grandfather with multiple risk factors who is trying not to freak out at the thought of dying.
