In Florida, on the news, their just faking the numbers now -- or at least severely misrepresenting them.My current CV control point is Florida. The models say masses of people should be dying in the streets in a few weeks after the elimination of most lock-down measures recently. It will be interesting to see what actually happens.

Takeaway...
Sweden is as bad as the US.

Statistics can show whatever you want the science to say. However, often they are in conflict with the message scientific analysis is actually trying to send for some peoplehttps://vetcov19.se/en/
The critics are upset they were incorrect then on their predictions and are still incorrect today for a long term pandemic plan. In science, evidence overrides theory.

So you think the critics in that link I posted are not politically motivated too?Statistics can show whatever you want the science to say. However, often they are in conflict with the message scientific analysis is actually trying to send for some people
I quote the classic statement, “There are lies, damn lies and then statistics”
You and I will never agree. So, I basically ignore your rejoinders and merely present another viewpoint.
I note that the site presenting your graph is politically motivated and not science based. Thus, to some of us, it’s articles are suspect. And not to be trusted. Just as I surmise you do not trust other sites.
Which is your right. However, in a technical forum, quoting fee is anathemic to “truth”.
IMHO
We agree more that you think. I think that Mass has done a very good job handling the Pandemic, I just don't think it or any states individual strategy should be a national one for the USA.Vilified Early Over Lax Virus Strategy, Sweden Seems to Have Scourge Controlled
After having weathered high death rates when it resisted a lockdown in the spring, Sweden now has one of Europe’s lowest rates of daily new cases. Whether that is an aberration remains to be seen.
Yeah... read about it a week ago... they used an old spreadsheet format that had a 16 bit limit for row and column count
Higher Education Minister Matilda Ernkrans turned to Sweden's 400,000 students at a press conference on Friday and started by thanking everyone who is following the Public Health Agency's health and safety recommendations to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
"But, to get to the student parties – unfortunately there are far too many of you who are not taking responsibility and you have to get a grip now. We can't have universities becoming corona transmission clusters," Ernkrans said.
"I don't think I should have to say this, but I want to remind the country's students that it isn't just yourself you're putting at risk by not following the Public Health Agency's recommendations. If you go to a party and get infected, you put those close to you (at risk). Your friends, your professor, the staff at your local supermarket, the person next to you in the library. (...) It is not acceptable that adults act in any other way than by taking responsibility."
Coronavirus: Northern leaders warn over further restrictions as PM prepares to unveil new lockdown system
Fresh measures could be imposed in the northwest of England as soon as Wednesday because of rising cases, Sky News understands.
On a crisp October evening the tables outside Stockholm’s trendy bars and restaurants sit empty. Inside, most tables are full. As life moves indoors in the coming months, covid-19 cases will inevitably rise, says Johan Carlson, head of Sweden’s public-health agency. Case numbers are already creeping up, though not as steeply as they did in the spring, and more slowly than in much of Europe. In response, Sweden is starting to ramp up contact-tracing and quarantining—but in ways that, once again, set it apart.
...
To prevent a second wave, Sweden is putting new measures into the mix. It recently resumed contact-tracing and quarantining, backed up by an expanded testing capacity. In most of Europe, strict 14-day quarantines are slapped on all contacts of infected people and anyone who travels to some parts of Europe. Sweden’s quarantine, however, is for seven days and only for those who live with an infected person. If a test on day five is negative, the quarantine can end then. Children with no symptoms are exempt from quarantine. All other contacts are simply alerted that they may be infected. They are urged to work from home for a week, to get tested if they have even the slightest symptoms in the next 14 days, and to be extra careful about seeing elderly relatives in that period.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/15/europe/europe-coronavirus-paris-curfew-intl/index.htmlA “circuit-breaker”, in which a package of stringent non-pharmaceutical interventions is reintroduced for 2-3 weeks should act to reduce R below 1. Over a fortnight’s “break”, two weeks of growth could be exchanged for two weeks of decay in transmission, assuming good adherence to measures, and no additional increase in contacts before or after the break. If this were as strict and well-adhered to as the restrictions in late May, this could put the epidemic back by approximately 28 days or more. The amount of “time gained” is highly dependent on how quickly the epidemic is growing – the faster the growth or stricter the measures introduced, the more time gained.

Wales will ban travelers entering the country from coronavirus hotspots in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland starting Friday, Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford announced on Wednesday.
With new cases hitting about 100,000 daily, Europe has by a wide margin overtaken the United States, where more than 51,000 COVID-19 infections are reported on average every day.
As cases in France climbed rapidly, President Emmanuel Macron announced night curfews for four weeks from Saturday in Paris and other major cities, affecting almost one-third of the country’s 67 million people.

SYDNEY, AUSTRALA - In a further blow to the travel industry, Australia is warning its international borders are likely to stay closed because of COVID-19 restrictions until “late next year.” Foreign nationals were banned in March to help curb the spread of the coronavirus, and Australian citizens must get official permission to leave the country.
Last year, about 9 million overseas travelers arrived in Australia. The largest groups came from China, New Zealand and the United States. The pandemic has seen those numbers collapse.
COVID-19 has turned Australia into a fortress. Its borders were closed to foreign nationals in March, helping to contain the disease but inflicting enormous economic harm. Australia is in a recession for the first time in three decades.
The exclusion of overseas tourists and students intending to study in Australia has cost Australia billions of dollars in lost revenue.
Australian citizens and permanent residents are allowed to fly home, but they must pay for mandatory hotel quarantine on their return. Tens of thousands of people are stranded in other countries because of strict quotas on those allowed into the quarantine system. Australians need official permission from the government to leave the country.
