Yebut not so much implanted tracking modules (as they'll surely get round to sooner than later!) - I'm put in mind of an old flick wherein a penitentiary --instead of bars and walls-- fitted the inmates with explosive collars -- stray too far afield and... Better not to dwell upon it!

I thought he did a pretty good job. One thing he touched on in the caveats was the quality of the underlying data, but still he seemed to take data from China at face value. I don't know that I'm really ready to do that, but I do generally believe that they really have gotten it beat back.

That's always been my fear that it's nearly impossible to keep R0 close to zero in general populations with low herd immunity without continuous, brutal isolation before a cure is created. Eventually IMO we will strike a societal and economic balance by testing those with antibodies and releasing them so the virus limits its spread in a hostile environment of immunity.

I am sure he knew and he also knew that this was the only way to achieve action. This is highly commandable.

Working in a high level beaurocracy (hospital) i am at my wits end as to what I have been witnessing in the past few weeks.

None of this is right. At one point somewhere this was compared to a war. A war on a virus. Sacrifices are made during a war. People are willing to die to either make life better or return to what was normal. Currently we see further erosion of rights, constant flip floping on plans going forward and zero data and transparancy.

My grandmothers are 80 and 90. The 90 year old lived through the seige of Leningrad. She does not deserve to be separated from her family. She will be the first one to tell you that if it is her time to go, so be it. What will be thw outcome of a year of forced social distancing and isolation? Of limited medical services for young people with managable conditions? How many 20-40 year olds will die after this is over due to other factors? Will that be looked as preventable deaths if response was different? These are some things to consider as the cities enforce penalties and slap anklets on people.
