Living in fear and pushing more fear/outrage about the future is a waste of time and weak.Dont be so quick. If things keep going the way they are, your granddaughter will be working for them in order to make things equitable and fair.

You may want to look over what Oregon has done. It is not alright. Is it a disadvantaged generation or a generation with new skills? Kids learn something whether they are taught, or just observing the actions and their surroundings. Whether they learned a pre-defined curriculum or they learned to adapt and, therefore, learned about adaptation like no other generation of students ever have. Different is not negative - it is just different. Differences is what allows some individuals to survive/thrive in extraordinarily situations. How much effort should be spent to turn these kids back to "the same" vs. celebrating their unusual experiences? Only the future can decide.
How important is it for students to complete prescribed curricula? Especially now with so many schools dropping SAT scores from the acceptance protocol. Leaning how to learn is the most important skill, not learning/memorizing an arbitrary curriculum.
The kids are alright.
Has nothing to do with living with fear, just speaking from experience/knowledge of historyLiving in fear and pushing more fear/outrage about the future is a waste of time and weak.
Bah.Has nothing to do with living with fear, just speaking from experience/knowledge of history
And that is one of many opinions. Keep telling the kids they are not alright and I can assure you, you will be right! You may want to look over what Oregon has done. It is not alright.

Statistics is an opinion now? Funny, for centuries people have seen education as a way out of poverty. Elsewhere they still do. Kids walk miles barefoot to schools. Girls still get killed for trying to learn how to read. And here you are. Graduating school unable to read, write or do math? And that is one of many opinions. Driving the news: The study, conducted by nference and the Mayo Clinic, compared the effectiveness of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in the Mayo Clinic Health System over time from January to July.
Why it matters: Although it has yet to be peer-reviewed, the study raises serious questions about both vaccines' long-term effectiveness, particularly Pfizer's.
- Overall, it found that the Moderna vaccine was 86% effective against infection over the study period, and Pfizer's was 76%. Moderna's vaccine was 92% effective against hospitalization and Pfizer's was 85%.
- But the vaccines' effectiveness against infection dropped sharply in July, when the Delta variant's prevalence in Minnesota had risen to over 70%.
- Moderna was 76% effective against infection, and Pfizer was only 42% effective.
- The study found similar results in other states. For example, in Florida, the risk of infection in July for people fully vaccinated with Moderna was about 60% lower than for people fully vaccinated with Pfizer.
Looks like my booster plans are being accelerated.Yes, but: There has been no data so far that has found either vaccine's protection against severe disease and death is significantly less against Delta, and the study notes that there doesn't appear to be much of a difference in complications stemming from breakthrough infections based on which vaccine someone got.
And because the delta variant is much more easily transmissible than previously circulating strains of the coronavirus, “we really need highly protective masks along with everything else,” Marr said. “Where a simple cloth mask was helpful before, it’s not helpful enough now,” particularly for people who remain unvaccinated.
The woven material of many cloth masks isn’t as effective at filtering particles as the nonwoven, meltblown polypropylene used to make surgical masks and respirators, Marr said. And properly worn N95s have a leg up on standard surgical masks because they are designed to fit snugly to the face — which allows them to filter at least 95 percent of airborne particulates.
“A surgical mask is just a rectangle and you’re trying to pull it to your face,” she said. “Obviously, our faces aren’t in the shape of a flat rectangle, so you inevitably end up with lots of leaks.”
Same. Been wondering about that. I have a VA hospital appointment early Sept and figure while I am there may as well see about another poke. I had absolutely no side effects from the first two. I have noticed black helicopters hovering over my house and think big brother is tracking me.https://www.axios.com/coronavirus-v...den-e9be4bb0-3d10-4f56-8054-5410be357070.html

It's not random:Are you one of those who thinks vaccines should be studied carefully? And now you come up with a plan by adding in some random producers other products? Wow!
Pfizer Inc. plans to request U.S. emergency authorization in August for a third booster dose of its COVID-19 vaccine, based on early data showing that it can sharply increase immune protection against the coronavirus.
The company has received initial data from an early human study showing that a third dose of its existing coronavirus vaccine is safe and can raise neutralizing antibody levels by 5 to 10 fold compared with the original vaccine, Pfizer research head Mikael Dolsten said in an interview.
Not sure but think you missed Mr.Salts point. You must have had very good teachers that pushed you to do better, instead of telling you how you would never have a good life. Or not had a parent that no matter what grades you got they should have been higher, or how good you did at anything it wasn't enough. I had both. But I was/am stubborn and do the best I can despite what I was told.Statistics is an opinion now? Funny, for centuries people have seen education as a way out of poverty. Elsewhere they still do. Sad part is kids at school dont know if they are alright or not. They are entirely dependant on their circumstances. That is why the school is there - to help push them up, not to bring them further down.
You have made many assumptions. I am largely self taught. I brough math textbook and physics encyclopedia with me when my family immigrated. I was in grade 8. I did not have good teachers. I love books. I completely missed grades 9 and 10 and went into grade 11 with little knowledge of english. I had no good teachers there either. Not sure but think you missed Mr.Salts point. Oh, and when I am "pushed" to do better it backfires.
Yeah, my point was, kids motivate themselves since JUST TRYING to motivate them makes them push back.Mr. Salts point is still over my head however.
Imagine no expectations.
In school, i have seen very few self motivating students. Doing bare minimum is the norm. My point is - self motivation for things like STEM fields is an anomaly.Yeah, my point was, kids motivate themselves since JUST TRYING to motivate them makes them push back.
But you already said that is how you behave. So I'm curious, @justtrying, why are the kids of Oregon so different than you?
Face it, your dogs threaten to crap on your floor if you don't take them out. You change definitions or frames of reference to suit your current argument. My dogs motivate me to go for a walk no matter the weather. They dont push me to do it.
Me changing frames of reference? That is a good oneFace it, your dogs threaten to crap on your floor if you don't take them out. You change definitions or frames of reference to suit your current argument.
The kids will be ok unless you keep telling them they will not be ok.
