The World news tonight showing concerns saying it is it’s own variant. Not sure what that means but, pumping the news to freak people out enough to go in and get the Vaxx.

“The idea of trying to reach ‘herd immunity’ as if suddenly there’s going to be this magic day when we can all go back to normal and the virus is completely gone — that’s probably a fantasy,” says Dr. David Dowdy, an epidemiologist at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

“But getting the virus to a tolerable level where we don’t have to alter our way of life is probably very achievable,” he says. “We’re already at a stage in the U.S. where we’re seeing case counts go down.”

A misleading C.D.C. statistic

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/11/briefing/outdoor-covid-transmission-cdc-number.html

That benchmark “seems to be a huge exaggeration,” as Dr. Muge Cevik, a virologist at the University of St. Andrews, said. In truth, the share of transmission that has occurred outdoors seems to be below 1 percent and may be below 0.1 percent, multiple epidemiologists told me. The rare outdoor transmission that has happened almost all seems to have involved crowded places or close conversation.

Saying that less than 10 percent of Covid transmission occurs outdoors is akin to saying that sharks attack fewer than 20,000 swimmers a year. (The actual worldwide number is around 150.) It’s both true and deceiving.
I asked the C.D.C. how it could justify the 10 percent benchmark, and an official there sent this statement:

There are limited data on outdoor transmission. The data we do have supports the hypothesis that the risk of outdoor transmission is low. 10 percent is a conservative estimate from a recent systematic review of peer-reviewed papers. CDC cannot provide the specific risk level for every activity in every community and errs on the side of protection when it comes to recommending steps to protect health. It is important for people and communities to consider their own situations and risks and to take appropriate steps to protect their health.

Erring on the side of protection — by exaggerating the risks of outdoor transmission — may seem to have few downsides. But it has contributed to widespread public confusion about what really matters. Some Americans are ignoring the C.D.C.’s elaborate guidelines and ditching their masks, even indoors, while others continue to harass people who walk around outdoors without a mask.

All the while, the scientific evidence points to a conclusion that is much simpler than the C.D.C.’s message: Masks make a huge difference indoors and rarely matter outdoors.

An anecdote: Yesterday I had to make a run for limes to make guac. I decided to go a little out of my way to a Walmart just across the Wisconsin border. There is no mask mandate there, and being vaccinated myself I thought it would be fun to shop naked again.

There were no signs entering the store about masks. No one looked at me sideways or said anything to me about me not wearing a mask. But to my surprise, I think I was the only person in the store without a mask.

In fact I'd say the masks were more effective and properly worn than in Illinois where they are mandated. There you'll see them pulled down to expose the nose, or so loose-fitting that all the air passes around the mask instead of through it.

People acting in their own interests do a better job than those compelled by force. Who could imagine.

Some can't imagine that Neanderthals could make decision for themselves.

One Month After COVID-19 Mandates Lift, Numbers Continue to Decline

Saturday marks one month since Texas fully reopened with no capacity or mask mandates for businesses unless they chose to keep them.

Nothing has changed since day one. Find whatever you like and run with it. Just about everything is opinion based and biased one way or the other. All of it has grown boring and as to COVID 19 it seems it has pretty much run its course.

Or they are just using the old Florida model of reporting.

We all know Florida is a special case.

The story is about people still wearing masks even without the mandate. The facts of the matter speak for themselves, just like the people thinking for themselves on the need to continue wearing masks.

Texas and Florida have just taken the lead, other states will be following suite as soon as elections come around anyway.

Had Fauci been honest from the start, this whole thing could have been avoided. But that's not what happened. Instead, he went-a-politicking for his own profit and the unfortunate result was that our response was disproportionate to the actual risk.

So the real mishandling of the situation lies with the autocrats who pressed entire states to shut down, which has in turn driven so many people into debt, unemployment, and homelessness.

Casual sex will be allowed again for the first time this year as part of the Government's latest lifting of lockdown measures.
Single Britons have been unable to meet for up for sex with overnight stays and indoor socialising banned since December.
But Boris Johnson tonight confirmed a raft of changes to lockdown laws from May 17.
Crucially the government has decided the risk is now low enough that social distancing can be left more to 'personal choice' - meaning that while people are urged to be 'cautious', hugs are allowed at private gatherings.

Fauci is what is known as an attention whore and he is not alone in political circles. :)

Maybe the lack of 5G causes COVID-19. ;)

https://www.pib.gov.in/PressReleseDetailm.aspx?PRID=1717523
It has come to the notice of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications that several misleading messages are being circulated on various social media platforms claiming that the second wave of coronavirus has been caused by the testing of the 5G mobile towers. As per a press statement issued by DoT these messages are false and absolutely not correct. The press statement informs that the general public is hereby informed that there is no link between 5G technology and spread of COVID-19 and they are urged not to be misguided by the false information and rumours spread in this matter. The claims linking the 5G technology with the COVID-19 pandemic are false and have no scientific basis. Moreover, it is informed that the testing of the 5G network has not yet started anywhere in India. Hence, the claim that 5G Trials or networks are causing coronavirus in India is baseless and false.

I see many here making that implication, mostly members of the"gang". I must have missed something as to why this keeps being brought up. Can you or another of the "gang" enlighten me as to why this keeps being said?

The 'Fauci == bad' is IMO just another conspiracy story like 5G causing CV-19. Yes, the man is full of himself but who isn't these days.
