Mask requirement lifted for fully vaccinated Oregonians in most ‘public settings,’ governor says

Fully vaccinated Oregonians can ditch their face masks in most public settings, Gov. Kate Brown announced Thursday, aligning the state with new federal guidance on the ubiquitous mainstays of pandemic life.
And for our next trick... off go the undies!!!!

Psssttt... Hey buddy, wanna buy a fake vax form?
If some fool wants to pay for a fake when they can get a free real thing then they deserve the consequences of getting sick. I'm done caring about the no-vax crowd and so is the rest of the US it seems. Enforcement consists of them being fools and the rest of us not caring.

You have presented a statement with no context. Let me add some. Vaccinations are above 30% in the general population. In some states, over 50% of their residents are vaccinated.
Thanks, that improves the validity of my statement. Mask usage was the key to reducing rates until vaccination rates reached current levels, not mask mandates.

I’m so weak. I promised myself not to reply to this thread because many people make no sense (not you nsaspook).

I yearn for the days when AAC totally banned topics of this sort.

No topic on a world-wide pandemic that has lasted for more than a year while causing massive disruptions to the electronic industry would have been impossible.

It'll take a while for masks to be dropped. Not happening around here now albeit not that many wear masks at all unless required to enter. Wife had to go to the Mayo Clinic today and they are not budging. In fact they required a Covid "Quick(hours long)" Test to be negative in addition to screening before performing a minor test on her even though she has her vax certificate. And they stopped by Costco on the way home and had to mask to enter.

It depends on local policy. This state was pretty strict with mask requirements and usage but the CDC change flipped that overnight.

It's good to get the kids getting shots too.

OSHA updates COVID-19 workplace policies to CDC guidance.
https://www.osha.gov/coronavirus/safework
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued new guidance relating to recommended precautions for people who are fully vaccinated, which is applicable to activities outside of healthcare and a few other environments. OSHA is reviewing the recent CDC guidance and will update our materials on this website accordingly. Until those updates are complete, please refer to the CDC guidance for information on measures appropriate to protect fully vaccinated workers.

https://www.nber.org/system/files/working_papers/w28804/w28804.pdf
During the first four months of 2021, the United States distributed approximately 250 million doses of COVID-19 vaccinations, which resulted in the complete vaccination of nearly 45 percent of the adult population. In the midst of this mass vaccination effort, Texas became the first state to abolish its statewide mask mandate and fully lift capacity constraints for all businesses. Governor Greg Abbott’s order was met with (i) concern by public health officials that an early reopening would lead to a resurgence of COVID-19, and (ii) assertions by Texas politicians that a reopening would generate short-run employment growth. This study provides the first empirical evidence on these claims. First, using daily anonymized smartphone data on social mobility from SafeGraph, Inc. — and synthetic control and difference-in-differences approaches — we find no evidence that the Texas reopening led to substantial changes in social mobility, including foot traffic at a wide set of business establishments in Texas. Second, using daily data on new COVID-19 cases from the New York Times, we find no evidence that the Texas reopening affected the rate of new COVID-19 cases during the five weeks following the reopening. Our null results persist across more urbanized and less urbanized counties, as well as across counties that supported Donald Trump and Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election. Finally, we find no evidence that the Texas reopening order impacted short-run employment. Together, our null findings underscore the limits of late-pandemic era COVID-19 reopening policies to alter private behavior.

I suspect many folks interpret "off-topic" as "whoopee, anything-goes!" As a student of philosophy, I can concoct many hypotheticals , any one of which could be labeled as "politics", and hence banned. Is religion off-limits, sexuality, history, evo-psyche, gender, or just "politics"? (perhaps it would be easier to define that which isn't politics?)

If this forum is called All-About-Circuits, why-then do we allow anything that is off-topic? I suppose it's because this sub-sub-forum is intended to provide a means for the corralling and redirecting of passions that are not "on-topic", and that also have the potential to threaten status-quo.

Once we bring our "politics" to the off-topic corral, it's a simple matter for the matadors, er, moderators to identify the offender of this forum's social norms, chastise inappropriate speech, close threads, or finally, to deliver an estocada to the errant misbehaver, and having done so, dissipate that which would otherwise threaten to spill-out into the general population, and upset the forum overall. In the foregoing example, the moderator has himself effected the ultimate of political power: executing the thread/banishment.

POLITICS: n 1: social relations involving authority or power. ... “Politics” is power used by social organisms to control others.

So, as we can see, and I agree, this is a tricky-subject. Our esteemed moderators are the ultimate political authority on this forum, and indeed, the moderators job is not only limited to administrative tasks; they also have the least envious chore of political-housekeeping. They must nullify the advances of those challengers whom would attempt to wrest control of this list for their own (often subconscious) desire to advance personal political power, thus threatening the raison d'exister of this forum. To the moderators of All-About-Circuits, I applaud you, Olé!

In a search for "power-factor" I stumbled upon this thread that I started over a year ago. I am pleased to see that it has survived for all these many pages, perhaps the longest thread on this forum? Obviously, it has had value beyond satisfying my unconscious desire to seek power and notoriety... Never-the-less, it is my feather, and I'll cherish it all the same. After all, we are not just circuit-designing robots, but also, social animals. Of course we would need a space to discuss and chew on the implications of this world-wide, history-steering event.

As to your first point ya, when you started it Coronavirus?! Really left the door wide open, but has to be the most impacting in 2020 like a Nuke was dropped on the World. Impacting to say the least, good starter, short and sweet.

Second your Post#1 also left a lot of room for anything that would stick. Economic, Political, emotional, dramatic, it will continue to prove over time as well.

It’s not over yet, the impact will reverberate for some time to come.

I thought it funny you drpped it and walked away just like your avatar. Hilarious. lol
